In July 2021, I wanted to explore some of the rather centrally located attractions of Berlin. Due to its good location and my general preference for Hilton Hotels, I opted for the Hilton Berlin. Here are my thoughts about the stay.

 

 

 

 

Hilton Berlin – Location

Hilton Berlin is indeed quite perfectly located. It is situated right opposite the Deutscher Dom, but also not too far away from Berlin’s famous boulevard, Unter den Linden. The hotel is driving a parking garage – I would however rather opt to travel in Berlin by public transport. Two Underground rail stations are in short walking distance, Stadtmitte and Hausvogteiplatz. There is even one entrance to Stadtmitte right in front of the hotel, but you need to walk quite a lot until you finally reached your rail (and it is not barrier-free).

The area is actually quite nice for tourists. There are a lot of key tourist attractions around, but also some very valuable services. A small shopping mall nearby offers supermarkets, for example. There are also other hotels and numerous bars / restaurants in the area.

 

Hilton Berlin – The Room

For my Friday to Sunday stay in July 2021, I opted for a King Guest Room. The flexible rate was 255 Euro for both days. My Hilton Honors Diamond status grants free breakfast – in addition, I received a nice room upgrade to a beautiful Junior suite with a great view on the Deutscher Dom. The room rather felt like a proper suite than like a junior one as the living area and sleeping area were fully separated. The room was actually really nice with the living area being really spacious and coming with a nice work desk. While working, your back faced the window and not the room – which I felt a bit weird, though. There were also all necessary facilities like a minibar in this room as well as a cozy couch if you want to relax a bit.

Nothing special about the sleeping area – absolutely fine in space and coming with the same lovely view of the iconic building across the street.  The bathroom was ensuite with a combined shower and bathtub. All typical Hilton amenities were in the room, which was overall a really great experience.

 

Hilton Berlin – Breakfast / Food

The restaurant of the hotel, which is also used for breakfast, is actually a real beauty. The service was nice (even though there were some lacks, e.g. staff chatting about guests right next to my table), the buffet had a very good variety of items. What I did not like was that the floor around the buffet felt very sticky, including a quite loud noise while walking. Some other guests did have the issue as well. The omelette was made at a live cooking station. The hotel definitely gave me a nice start of the day, even though the staff gossiped about other hotel guests close to the table I had breakfast at.

Unfortunately, local Covid-19 regulations did not allow to operate the Executive Lounge. However, they had a nice replacement service in the bar area at the lobby of the hotel, which I really appreciated.

 

Hilton Berlin – Services

The staff was absolutely great and helpful. The WiFi provided worked very well for me. The hotel runs a spa and gym area – but as I generally do during the pandemic, I do not register for it, where required, just to take pictures, causing to block that time for another hotel guest.

The hotel runs / is associated with a parking garage. The daily fee is 34 Euro, which is quite high for German relations, but overall reasonable regarding the location.

 

Hilton Berlin – My View

Hilton Berlin is a really lovely location for a trip to Berlin. I loved the professionalism of the staff, the room was awesome and a great hub to explore the German capital. Definitely a recommendation if you need a good night (or some more ones) in that part of Berlin.
