Way before the release date of 31st October 2025, I received a promo of the debut album by Victoria Akua. The Danish artist is doing an interesting mixture of genres. Thus, I felt to gave her a deeper listen, even though Songs to Soften the Heart does not contain that many tracks which have not yet been released. Here is my review.

 

Victoria Akua – About The Artist

Victoria Akua is a Danish artist who is nowadays based in Copenhagen. She started to release songs in late 2024. All of her song releases are part of her debut album. Victoria’s music is a mixture of indie-pop, folk and meditative elements.

 

Victoria Akua – Songs To Soften The Heart – Track by Track

The nine track album lasts 36 minutes.

1. Heart Answered

Heart Answered is opening the album. The album title feels to fit perfectly to the sound of this one. Her high, gentle voice feels like an angel on top of the gently strumming guitar. A beautiful folk song with a dreaming atmosphere.

 

2. Move With the Wind

The style of the album continues with the album. The vocal side is slower, so that you also feel the meditative elements I mentioned in the opening sections. It feels beautiful to simply close your eyes and calm down while listening to Victoria Akua.

3. Radical Self Love

The next song is Radical Self Love. The concept behind her music makes this song a bit of monotonous, I liked the two previous tracks better. Nonetheless, the song has this fine, fragile, relaxing style again. Nice one!

 

4. Surrender

Also due to a more intense melodic background in Surrender, I feel that this one is more intense again. Starting and closing with her voice and the guitar only, the middle part of the song has a very catching atmosphere in the middle. Nice!

5. Let the Light In

The 4:40 minute track Let the Light in comes with a break in the middle. Despite the track is one of the longer ones of the album, it does not feel lengthy or boring. Again, the warming, beautiful atmosphere of the song is special. This time, Victoria Akua also impresses with different instruments in different parts of the song. This feels like she is taking you on a musical journey.

6. You Remind Me

While many songs of the album have a very strong meditative character, this song is again a bit more rhythmic. Thus, You Remind Me reminds of the opener Heart Answered. This leads to a nice plot of the entire Songs To Soften The Heart album.

7. The River

The River feels like a typical singer-songwriter folk song. Again, the artist’s high voice is the catching element. It comes with a crystal-clear sound, so that i is absolutely enjoyable to be into her music during this song.

8. Garden of Abundance

Garden of Abundance is special in two ways. First of all it is the longest song on the album. Secondly, it is the only track Victoria Akua has not shared before album release. Like Let the Light In, the song moves through different sections, even though the differences are not that significant in here. Overall, a lovely track.

9. Goodnight (Organic Version)

Finally, Victoria Akua wishes the listener a Goodnight. She states I am safe in the lyrics. There is a certain lullaby, but also spiritual feeling in this song.

Songs To Soften The Heart really warms up your feelings and feels very spiritual. Victoria Akua wisely uses her composition of vocal and melodic elements to gently catch the listener. However, even though it is a debut album, I would have loved to have two, three more new songs in it.
