Going back from two floorball matches in Gothenburg by train, I had an overnight rail transfer in Malmö. I looked for an cheap location for a good nap and some breakfast and finally opted for the Moment Hotels outlet in the Swedish city. Here is my hotel review.

Moment Hotels Malmö – Location & Access

The hotel is located at Norra Vallgatan, right across Malmö Main Station / Malmö Centralstation. There is a canal separating the hotel and the traffic hub, but two rather close bridges lead to a very short commute. There are numerous other hotels, restaurants and bars near the hotel. Furthermore, you can easily walk into Malmö city center from there.

Tje train station leads to ideal connections. There is a full range of rail service connections, including international connections. For example, the Snalltaget sleeper train to Stockholm and Berlin is passing through Malmö. You can also use the Öresundstag to Gothenburg and Copenhagen, incl. Copenhagen Airport (CPH). The rail ride to Denmark is a very quick connection by Öresundstag via the Öresund Bridge. The bus terminal in front of the main station and the bus stop close to the hotel also offer a range of bus connections, including regional and international ones as well as the Flygbussarna service to the less frequented Malmö Airport (MMX)

Moment Hotels Malmö – Room

I had one night in the hotel in December 2024, Saturday to Sunday. The room I booked was a room without windows, including breakfast, with a two day cancellation period. The price for that was 626 SEK, roughly 54.50 EUR. Honestly, I expected a basement room or similar, but I was pleasantly surprised about in fact having a room on the fifth floor, which simply does not feature daylight to to architectural reasons. The room was rather compact and I would not take it with a lot of luggage, but it was absolutely fine for my brief stay. The bed was a bit on the the soft side. I would have loved to have a work desk, but at least the hotel provided one of these cushioned notebook tables you can put on your lap. The room had quite a lot of power outlets, some featuring additional USB ports, which was nice.

The bathroom had a typical Scandinavian design with an open shower. The toilet was on the opposite side. Soap at the sink and shower gel were provided in dispensers. The bottle of shower gel was a replacement option, the dispenser was still sufficiently full during my stay. The room was perfectly clean, in general as well as in the bathroom area. In order to prevent water running into the sleeping are, there was a little step between the two rooms, which I tripped over a few times.

Moment Hotels Malmö – Breakfast

Moment Hotels in Malmö have a large, designated breakfast area in the second floor of the building. There were different stations at which you could grab food. Especially regarding the price and the targeted visitor of the hotel, the quality and selection of items was absolutely fine. Breakfast starts at 6:00 on weekdays and one hour later at weekends.

Moment Hotels Malmö – Service

Thes taff in the hotel was really friendly. I liked both, the check-in and the check-out experience. The hotel also offers free WiFi, which worked very well during my stay. There is no gym or similar facility.

Moment Hotels Malmö – My View

Moment Hotels Malmö is not one of the posh options. However, the price and the excellent location do lead to striking argument to book in here. If you just need a stay for an trip to the city, it is a nice option. The place absolutely suited my needs, so that I was really happy with it.
