When people visit the United Arab Emirates, they typically think about Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The more I got into the country, the more I started to like other places as well. Sharjah, the city right North of Dubai, is definitely one of my favorites. I like the way they are dealing with their cultural heritage. Though I have been to the city a couple of times, it took me a while to finally have a night in the Emirate, which is in fact having a longer history than Dubai. In May 2021, I had one night at the Pullman Sharjah, a centrally located place. Here are my thoughts.

Pullman Sharjah – Location

The hotel is located very nicely, close to the Al Majaz Waterfront. You can easily reach the hotel by car, the E11, which is connecting Sharjah to Dubai and the North is not too far away from the hotel.

Apart from other hotels (including a Novotel), there are a couple of stores and restaurants around. In addition, there is a hospital. The hotel offers valet parking, but if you turn right behind the hotel, you may enter the self-parking as well.

Pullman Sharjah – Atmosphere

The hotel is a very modern (quite recently built), luxury style hotel. I liked the lobby, which was very welcoming. Sharjah hotels typically do not offer alcohol, if that is a key thing for you.

From some parts of the hotel, e.g. the pool or my room, you had a lovely view of the laguna and the Sharjah waterfront.

Pullman Sharjah – The Room

My original booking has been a 48 square meter Deluxe Room with Laguna View. My Accor Hotels Gold status granted me an upgrade to Exeuctive Suite. The price for my one night booking, including breakfast (refundable) was 417 AED, roughly 92 EUR. Not just regarding that price, I got an amazing room. The living area was really spacious and featured a large sofa as well as a dining table area. Of course, tehre have been coffee / tea facilities and a bunch of water. The desk was absolutely fine for my two notebook equipment as well – they however did not have universal power plugs, which is rather common in Dubai (i.e. power supply which suit all major power plugs).

The bedroom was ensuite and could be fully separated from the living area. It featured another large TV and a really large, cozy bedding. There was even some sort of make-up area in one corner of the room.

The bathroom had a separate bathtub, which was, however, in the same room like the shower (i.e. the shower area is where you get off the bathtub. I had that in other U.A.E. hotels as well, it is an uncommon design to me, but not too bad. The sink area was large and had plenty of space for your amenities. The bathroom featured a separate toilet. At the entrance to the living room, there has been a guest toilet as well – very cool!

Pullman Sharjah – Breakfast

Sharjah had different Covid-19 regulations during my stay compared to Dubai. You could self-service at the breakfast buffet, but disinfection and gloves were mandatory – while a bit further South, you had serviced buffet. Pullman Sharjah offered a nice selection of items, including a variety from international cusine (something I absolutely love about the Emirates).

They had different seating areas, from cozy to a bit of bistro-style, in their buffet restaurant, which feels to do an international dinner buffet in the evening hours as well.

The hotel also featured a small cafe in the lobby area. As I felt tired after a day in the sun, I took the room service for dinner. I had a Biryani, a creme brulee and a soda, which was, including all fees, roughly 100 AED, i.e. 25 EUR. The food quality was really, really good.

Pullman Sharjah – Services

Pullman Sharjah features quite some nice places to hang out and relax. The outdoor pool has a nice view of the laguna and the city. There is also a pool bar. The place was really popular among the visitors. In contrast to the hotel information system, there were no towels at the outdoor pool (they ran out of them, which I felt to be really weird), so that I had to go back to my room and grab some – really weird.

The gym area also featured pools on the upper level. The gym was much nice than the pictures may suggest – the area was just occupied during my visit, so that I could not take pictures.

Pullman Sharjah – My View

The value for money at Pullmann Sharjah has simply been incredible. Of course, there was the upgrade based on my status, but even a standard room would have been a bargain. The room was great, the staff was nice, I loved the breakfast and the evening swim in the pool – this stay was a really, really good one!
