Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 9th January 2026)

Christmas, New Year and the time before – the music industry felt to be on something like a hiatus the last weeks. The more, I had to work for this week’s Songs of the Week. So many new releases – there is a huge load of new songs. The album reviews will kick off in full volume next week on Flyctory.com next week as well. So far, here are my favorite new tracks of the first full week of 2026. Unfortunately, I had to remove a couple of my candidates (promoted as new songs, but in fact already released), so that the list is not that long this time.

Jacky Allmaier – Stop Talking and Dance

This folk-pop track made me smile. The Austrian artist Jacky Allmaier from Rust Southeast of Vienna, close to the Hungarian border released this track this week. After being part in cover band, she pursued a solo career in 2024, starting with her single release Disguise. A really catching one.

Nathan Evans & Saint Phnx Band – Happy Place

In later March 2026, Nathan Evans and the Saint Phnx Band will kick off the European legs of their Angels Share World Tour (see my Tour Date Overview). The Nathan Evans show in March 2025 in Berlin was a great experience – this song is making me look forward to the new shows even.

Pedro Santos – I Don’t Know Me

When I tried to find some additional bio about Pedro Santos, I ran into the weak spots of AI. The search mashed up the British pop artist with a former Portuguese soccer national team player. The singing Pedro Santos is a former member of the boyband Here At Last. I Don’t Know Me could be a nice part of his European tour, which will take place in February.

Nesta – One thing leads to another

Nesta is a pop artist from Norway. However, the 23 year old is originally from Lithuania and moved to the Norwegian West Coast in childhood days. One thing leads to another is a catching, modern pop track.

Ellur – Dream Of Mine

Ellur sounds like another artist from a Nordic country to me. However, the female artist, whose civil name is Ella is British. The Yorkshire lady will release her debut EP in early February – this song is definitely a nice feature single.

Florian Bunke – Durch meine Augen

On 22nd February, Florian Bunke is releasing his new album A24. Germans know: this guy is from Northern Germany (A24 is a motorway in the North of Germany). The Kiel artist has released three albums already. This one is a beautiful, emotional love song.

Celine Cairo – Panacea

Panacea features a cello, synth sounds and a 12 string guitar. This already sounds promising. Indeed, the Dutch singer-songwriter released a fine and fascinating song this Friday. Especially her song Hibernate from her 2016 debut album Free Fall drew quite some attention already.

Smash Into Pieces & Within Temptation – Somebody Like You

Smash Into Pieces meets Within Temptatation – this Swedish-Dutch collaborations feels like hard riffs and rock sounds. However, they do a fine ballad together. Maybe the most surprising song of the week – but also a really nice listen.

Jim Gardner – Better Man

One of my favorites this week is Better Man by Jim Gardner. He was born in the Netherlands, but now lives in Berlin. A lovely folk-pop ballad.

Martin Goldenbaum – Alles Bunt

Matin Goldenbaum raises the rock level in this post. The German artist from Berlin is also part of the band Brenner. Alles Bunt is the title track of his 2026 album, which will be released on 13th February 2026.

Lake – Boy On A Mission

The list of band members is as long as Lake’s history. The roots of the German-British rock bands are dated back in the late 1960. In 1973, the band was officially formed. Only singer Ian Cussick made it through all the breakups and hiatuses. With Boy On A Mission, Lake released a new song this week – and spreads some classic rock vibes with deep emotions.

The Moviemen – Master Of None

The Moviemen is a project from the German Rheinland region, built around lead singer Karten Dylan. In 2025, the already released their EP Prologue. The song is a nice rock’n’roll track with alternative vibes. A very interesting, groovy and cool one.

Sportfreunde Stiller – Ti amo, Italiano!

During my recent trip to Florence, I felt again how special Italy is to me. A great country, wonderful food, and relatively easy to get there from Germany. I already look forward to spending some time in Milan for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The Sportfreunde Stiller seem to have similar feelings – even though they rather praise the beautiful melody of the language. I just had to add this one.

BASJ – Mr. Cherry Boy

Regarding travel… Next week, I am heading to Oslo, supporting the Faroe Islands at the Handball EHF Euro group matches. BASJ is the debut single of a Faroese project around Jens Petur and Ellindur Gaard Magnussen. An interesting song with pop vibes and funky grooves.

Theresa Rex – Run Boy Run

In 2019, the Danish artist Theresa Rex had a huge hit. She was working with Jonas Blue on What I Like About You. The song comes with over 300 million Spotify streams. She had some successful songs later as well. Run Boy Run could be a major listen as well – it is the official song of the EHF Handball European Championships, which will take place in Denmark, Norway and Sweden from next week.
