Debut EP release: German-Iranian artist Mina Richman releases her first five song set on 6th May 2022. The EP is named Jaywalker and I enjoyed the warmth and the voice when I received it as a promotion package. Here is my view.

 

Mina Richman – About The Artist

Mina Richman is a 23 year old singer-songwriter. She was born in Berlin, but grew up in Bad Salzuflen near Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia. She started to do music in teenage years. Her civil name is Schelpmeier, her artist surname is based on the Cher quote Mom I am a rich man. Her music style mixes folk and pop with some soul elements.

 

Mina Richman – Jaywalker – Track by Track

The five track EP lasts 17 minutes.

1. Bad Girls

The opening track is caught me from the very first moment. The strumming main theme and the nice groove the song just makes you move to the music – which stays in your mind long after the listen. Really nice.

2. Everything Else

The EP is rather a soundtrack for new Mina Richman fans than for her existing community. One reason: out of five songs, three have already been released. Everything Else (and the title track) are new one. Again, Richman just uses very little musical elements to tell you her stories. In this track, it is the guitar, some percussion and a strong focus on her vocals and the lyrics. Very nicely done.

3. Jaywalker

Jaywalker is a nice song, somewhere between folk and country sounds. Like the opener, its key feature is the easy, the happy rhythm.

4. A Broken Friendship’s Tale

The fourth track is a nice trip through different emotions. The beginning is thoughtful, even a bit of melancholic, while A Broken Friendship’s Tale also has angry and frustrated moments. Just like the story of the song.

5. Leave

The closing Leave is the slowest song of the EP. It nicely works with electric guitar elements, which almost feel painful backing the acoustic one. Beautiful vocal presence by Mina Richman.

Mina Richman – Jaywalker – My View

Jaywalker is a beautiful debut by Mina Richman. Individually, the songs are really good and I love the way she is creating such an intense atmosphere with so limited effort. Unfortunately, I feel that the songs could be more out of the, have a wider range of sounds. Still a good listen.
