Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 16th August 2024)

This week is in focus of Jessica Lynn. I saw her show near Cologne on Monday and visited another concert in Wolfsburg on Thursday (just as a spectator). My picks of new releases start very rocking, but there are also some finer tunes in it. Hope you enjoy.

Halsey – Lonely is the Muse

Even though the radio focus will be on her recent single Lucky, I really liked the new song by Halsey, Lonely is the Muse. The US-American singer recently headlined the Sziget Festival in Budapest. With 50 billion streams and 75 million singles counted by RIAA, this act is definitely a big name in the music business. Nice rock track.

Blomkwist (feat. Griezgram & Tezza) – Weil du da bist

The Southwest Germany rock band cooperates with German rapper Griezgram and singer Tezza for their new single. This leads to a catching track with a very modern touch. I really like this one.

NESS – Hass im Bauch

This new release by the Austrian queer artist NESS is less than two minutes long. Nonetheless, the song left a mark in my point of view. A very intense pop-rock track.

Henry Moodie – Right Person, Wrong Time

The next song on my list is coming from the United Kingdom. The 2004-born Henry Moodie released his new song Right Person, Wrong Time. A lovely singer-songwriter track, which will be a key track of his upcoming late September EP release as well. Right after the release, he is touring across Europe.

Chris de Burgh – It’s Never Too Late

The Irish singer (born in Argentina) is very popular in Germany, the United Kingdom and in his home country (of course…). This week, Chris de Burgh released his new song It’s Never Too Late. A lovely track, which simply feels like a Chris de Burgh one.

Carolin No – Die Straßen der Vergangenheit

Another typical singer-songwriter track is Die Straßen der Vergangenheit (“The streets of the past”) by Carolin No. Especially in early 2025, the duo is touring with their new album On & On. The song has lovely vibes.

Sebastian Krumbiegel – Superheld

The Die Prinzen singer Sebastian Krumbiegel is continuing his solo career with his pop-chanson-alike Superheld (“Super Hero”). He is asking for this super hero, who is saving the world – or asks whether he (or anybody else) could alternatively be this guy. A typical Krumbiegel song, which is a having a strong social-political background.

Die Fantastischen Vier – Wie weit

The German hip hop legends Die Fantastischen Vier released a new track this week. It is their first single after a publication hiatus of six years. The new album Long Player is in the pipeline as well – it will be released on 4th October 2024.

Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars – Die With A Smile

Just a few weeks after Lady Gaga impressed with her French performance at the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in Paris, she is back in English – and with a new song. This time she is pairing up with her US-American countryman Bruno Mars. A really good pop music listen.

Okean Elzy (feat. John Rzeznik) – Lighthouse

Okean Elzy is a Ukrainian rock band. Their roots are reaching back to 1994. For their new single Lighthouse, they teamed up with US-American writer and producer Johnny Rzeznik, who is originally from Buffalo. A really nice one.

Charly Bliss – Back There Now

The last song on my list this week is the song which has in fact been released first. I featured the Brooklyn-based band in my 31st May 2024 Songs of the Week already. On Friday, they released this song in parallel to their new album Forever. Cool pop sound.
