Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 7th March 2025)

My weekend this week is dominated by the Country To Country Festival 2025 in Berlin. My report of the kick-off Bluebird Cafe event is already online, a lot of other reports will follow. I will also try to arrange some interviews around the event. Nonetheless, here are my Songs of the Week, the release radar for non-country songs.

Marleen Lohse – Losing Sight

Marleen Lohse is well-known to many Germans of around my age. As Hexe, she was one of the main actors of the family TV series Die Kinder vom Alstertal from 1998 to 2004. Her acting career developed in the meantime with a lot with many appearances. This week, the Northern German released her debut single Losing Sight. I absolutely love it.

Philippa Kinsky – Neverland

Philippa Kinsky is a German-Austrian artist, who released her debut EP born in the teens in 2022. In 2024, she added another EP, smalltown stories. Thereby, she presented very different genres. This week, she released the song Neverland – a fine pop track.

Sofyka – The Garden

Sofyka is a German artist from Mannheim. She already had some decently successful tracks like her 2024 single Dance Again. This week, she released her new dance pop track The Garden.

Toby Romeo & Roger Sanchez – Make You Mine

Austrian DJ and Producer Toby Romeo and his US-American colleague released this dance pop track, Make You Mine. I am dancing to country music vibes this weekend – but if you are not into hats and boots, this one is a good option.

Bryan Adams – Make Up Your Mind

Bryan Adams sold over 100 million records during his career. The new song by the Canadian rock artist, who also works as composer and photographer, will add quite a bit to that number, I feel. It feels a bit of nostalgic, but also modern – nice one.

Volbeat – By a Monster’s Hand

With Volbeat, my Songs of the Week this time reach the metal spheres. The Danish band released their first single from their new album God of Angels Trust, which will be released in early June 2025. Sounds promising!

Lorena – Rebel Soul

Just four weeks ago, the Hamburg artist Lorena lead my 7th February 2025 Songs of the Week with her song Milky Way. Her new single Rebel Soul was in the closer selection for this week’s leading position as well. Look forward to listening to more of her songs.

Nethi – I Decide

Another debut single I feature this week is I Decide by German artist Nethi from Berlin. However, her family is very well known in the domestic music scene. Agnetha’s (her civil first name) father is nobody but Gero Stumpen Ivers, the lead singer of the fun hard rock band Knorkator. Nethi is also part of the band since 2020.

Helen June – So Wie es ist

Helen June is a German pop artist. She already released this song in an acoustic version in 2024, but this soulful, groovy version with brass adds a lot to it. She is living in Switzerland.

Joshville – Der pure Wahnsinn

Joshville could have been one of the acts on this year’s C2C Festival as well. However, the Rheinland artist is more and more moving towards schlager. While I felt some of his recent tracks were not at their full potential, I really like this one, Der pure Wahnsinn.
