Flyctory.com Pros

  • Excellent location
  • Lovely historic building

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Breakfast service issues

There are still some hotel reviews which came from my 2023 Weird Al Yankovic European Tour tour-chasing. One of them is the place I stayed in for the show in the Belgian capital Brussels. Due to the good rail connections to Germany, I opted for the DoubleTree by Hilton Brussels City. Here are my thoughts.

DoubleTree Brussels City – Location

The hotel is located on the Northern edge of the Brussels City pedestrian area. Just across the street, you are in the main shopping area. Key attractions like Brussels Grand Square are in a convenient walking distance.

The hotel has an ideal location regarding public transport. Brussels North Train Station is less than ten minutes away and offers domestic as well as international connections. Be aware of pickpockets and luggage thieves in the Brussels stations. Right in front of the hotel’s rear entrance, there is the metro station Roger, which is featured by metro lines 2 and 6. The same station runs the trams 3, 4, 25 and 55. There are also bus connections from there.

DoubleTree Brussels City – Room

I had one night at the Brussels DoubleTree. The semi-flex rate was 126.80 EUR for a Saturday to Sunday stay. Breakfast was included due to my Hilton Diamond status. I also received a room upgrade. The room felt very spacious and modern. There are sufficient spaces for your luggage and clothing. I also liked the work desk, even though I struggled with the power outlet mounted in it. Instead of free water bottles (as typically provided), there were two empty glass bottles, which you can fill with water dispensers on the floor. There is also a microwave oven.

The dark design of the room might does come with a nice style. The shower bathroom is spacious. The toilet felt a bit of narrow, though. Nonetheless, I felt very pleased with it. Amenities were given in dispensers during my stay.

DoubleTree Brussels City – Breakfast

I was really pleased with the quality and variety of the breakfast. There was a nice range of hot and cold items. However, staff was rather limited, so that cleaning the tables did not work out well.

DoubleTree Brussels City – Service

The staff was very friendly and helpful. WiFi in the hotel worked well. The DoubleTree by Hilton Brussels City features a nice gym, which you can see in the pictures below.

DoubleTree Brussels City – My View

Even though the hotel is not absolutely in the heart of Brussels, the location is excellent and provides good service. Bad luck that there were some service issues at breakfast. Overall, I had a really good time in the hotel.
