Carly Pearce (17th February 2025, Cologne)

Carly Pearce has been back to Germany. On 17th February, the last of her Sound of Nashville shows brought her to Die Kantine in my home town Cologne. Carly is a special artist to me, as she was one of the first artists I have been following more closely. On that Monday evening in Cologne, she presented her most recent album, Hummingbird. Support act of the evening was Wade Bowen.

This posting comes with 503 major size pictures as part of the concert gallery.

Die Kantine – About The Venue

Die Kantine is a 900 people capacity venue in Nippes, a Northern borough of Cologne. I had multiple shows there already, for example Kameron Marlowe in December 2024 or  49 Winchester in May 2024. You typically run into parking problems during events there. Therefor, the public transport connection is comparably fine. The stop Wilhelm-Sollmann-Str. is served by trams 12 and 15 as well as bus 122. From there, it is a some five minute walk.

Carly Pearce – About The Artists

Carly Pearce, civil name Carly Cristyne Slusser, is a country music artist from Taylor Mill in Kentucky. Born on 24th April 1990, her breakthrough was her 2017 debut album Every Little Thing. The album peaked fourth in the US Country Charts, especially driven by the title track. The song was a platinum single in the USA and Canada and received a platinum record in both countries. Carly had two airplay chart topping duets in her home country, I Hope You’re Happy Now with Lee Brice (2019) and Never Wanted To Be That Girl with Ashley McBryde (2021). I featured her 2022 tour stop in Hamburg. At that occasion, I also had the opportunity to chat with her in my Spotlight interviews. She is a Flyctory.com Featured Artist.

The support act of the evening was nobody else but Wade Bowen. In Cologne, the Texas country / Red Dirt singer from Waco, presented his 2024 album Flyin’. Including records which he recorded with other artists, that was already the thirteenth studio album by the 1977-born artist.  I also featured his 2022 album Somewhere Between The Secret and The Truth. It is the second time I feature a Wade Bowen concert in Cologne, after his August 2019 show there.

Carly Pearce – The Show

Wade Bowen stepped on stage of Die Kantine right in time at 20:00, accompanied by a guitarist and a bassist. The attendance of the evening was roughly 700. They enjoyed Wade Bowen’s set from the very beginning. It started with When Love Comes Around and Trouble. The trio had a really nice presence and also got quite some applause from the beginning. The venue got significantly louder after the sixth song A Guitar, a Singer and a Song, which was the highlight of his set to me. He also shared some stories with the fans, like making jokes about “battles” between artists for the career highest Billboard chart placements. The forty minute set closed with Saturday Night and Fell in Love on Whiskey and a lot of cheering from the German fans.

19 Song Set by Carly Pearce

Setting up the stage for Carly Pearce was really quick. The Kentucky country lady and her band started their set right at 21:00. The 19 song concert took roughly 85 minutes. Carly’s first songs were Rock Paper ScissorsNext Girl and Country Music Made Me Do It. She also shared a song, which has not been released yet, If Looks Could Kill. For the tenth song Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man, Wade Bowen came back on stage for a lovely duet. Carly also interacted with the audience and shared quite some stories.

Before she performed 29, she underlined that this is your favorite song she wrote so far. Before the encore, there were some of the big hits like Never Wanted to Be That GirlHide the Wine and I Hope You’re Happy Now. In that part of the concert she also introduced her band to the crowds. Before the the song she originally recorded with Lee Brice, she stated how much the band and her loved the European tour stages and promised to come back. Before Cologne went home, they enjoyed the encore consisting of Oklahoma and What He Didn’t Do.

Carly Pearce – My View

Compared to the 2022 show in Hamburg, I felt that the Cologne show some two and a half years later was so much better. Carly felt much more confident and energetic. Maybe she also felt safer after having made the initial experience. This lead to a great concert with a lovely, personal atmosphere and a lot of energy. Wade Bowen did a great acoustic set with his musicians as well, so that I absolutely loved that night in Cologne. On top of that, it was a real treat to take pictures from the rear of the audience after the typical three songs, no flash time in the pit.
