  • Very friendly atmosphere
  • Nice breakfast
  • Good location

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Slightly old-fashioned room design

I have stayed at the Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Ratingen a couple of times before my night in June 2024. However, it was typically a place for me to be at Dusseldorf AIrport (DUS) very early. Thus, I did not enjoy breakfast so far. Having it as my “office hotel” for the Mehrkampf Meeting Ratingen, though, made me check on all their services. Here is my review.

Please note that there is also another Mercure Hotel nearby, the Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Airport. This place is not covered by this review.

Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Ratingen – Location

The hotel is located close to the Autobahnkreuz Breitscheid (Breitscheid Junction), which is linking the motorways A3 and A52. It is located in a commercial area. There is a small restaurant and a McDonald’s right across the street. A Kaufland supermarket is located on the opposite side of the A52 motorway.

You can reach the hotel by bus. The bus stop Ratingen An der Pönt is majorly serving lines 752 and 753, which connect to Ratingen and Dusseldorf Main Station. Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is conveniently located and more or less just a 13 km motorway drive away (some 10 minutes). It is more or less a hotel which requires using a car. The hotel is having quite some parking lots. Especially in the evening, street parking is possible as well. However, some of streets and places around do not allow parking.

Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Ratingen – Room

I stayed at the hotel at a non-public rate. However, you very often get very good deals for the Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Ratingen and pay some 60 to 70 Euro per night. Trade fair and event rates are significantly higher, of course. The third floor room could easily be accessed by elvator. The design in the Mercure Hotel is a bit of traditional, but it is also rather functional. Especially the large work desk was very helpful for me. There could be some more power outlets, especially at the desk and around the beds. Nonetheless, the living and sleeping area was really nice and also has a good size.

The shower bathroom was really nice in size. There was also sufficient space for my toiletries in the room. The whole was absolutely clean and well-maintained.

Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Ratingen – Breakfast & Food

This stay in 2024 was the first time I had breakfast at Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Ratingen. What a shame on me – the hotel is doing a really nice job. The restaurant is lovely and the terrace is beautiful, especially in summer. Even though it is “just” heading towards the hotel parking lot, it is a really nice spot. The selection provided by the breakfast buffet was really nice and even included some German “classics” like hard boiled eggs with remoulade or warm rice pudding. Overall, I really enjoyed kicking off my sports photography day at the Accor Hotel.

The breakfast room serves as restaurant in the evening. During my stay, it was completely blocked with a private party. However, the lobby also serves as a bar area.

Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Ratingen – Service

Check-in and check-out was very friendly. In my room, there was also a small sweet greeting to me as an Accor Gold Member.. The hotel is also driving a gym, which I missed to have a look to. WiFi at the Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Rating was absolutely sufficient in speed and very reliable.

Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Ratingen – My View

Let’s be straight: the hotel is majorly used by business travelers and people heading to or from the airport. For both groups, the Mercure Hotel Düsseldorf Ratingen is doing a really good job.  There is a slightly old-fashioned touch, but the atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly. The location is nice for transit travelers as well. I really liked my stay there.
