49 Winchester (22nd October 2025, Cologne)

Welcome back, 49 Winchester. The US country rockers played a show of their Welcome To The Holler Tour on 22nd October 2025 in Cologne. The support of the day was Wyatt Flores. I featured both acts before, some seven months ago, as part of the opening day of the 2025 Country To Country in Berlin. For 49 Winchester, it was the second appearance in my home time in a rather short time. Almost exactly 17 months before, they had played a show at Die Kantine – and it was great fun. Here is my concert report of the show presented by Sound of Nashville.

Carlswerk Victoria – About The Venue

The Carlswerk Victoria is a 1,600 venue in Cologne-Mülheim. It is located in a former industrial area, the Carlswerk, and also features the smaller Yuca Club. It is one of the typical venues for country concerts in Cologne – the last show I saw there was Warren Zeiders in February 2025. Both venues are easy to access for people from abroad. It is quite close to the motorway and a major parking garage is right next to venue. The easiest option by public transport is Keupstraße, from where there are tram and bus connections. A closer bus connection is the stop Schanzenstr./Schauspielhaus. It is served by bus line 150.

49 Winchester – About The Artists

49 Winchester is a US-American alternative country and country rock band. They have been founded in 2013 in Castlewood in Virginia. The band is lead by singer Isaac Gibson, who has also been part of the Bluebird Cafe opening event of the 2025 C2C in Berlin. Their August 2024 album Leavin’ This Holler, which is naming the tour, has been the band’s fifth studio album overall. I also reviewed the predecessor album, Fortune Favors the Bold (2022).

The support act of the day was Wyatt Flores. He was born on 29th June 2001 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He is a country and folk rock singer, who debuted in the Billboard charts with Please Don’t Go in 2023, which became a platinum record. After releasing three EPs, Flores released his debut album Welcome to the Plains in October 2024.

49 Winchester – The Show

The concert was announced to start at 19:00 – and that’s when Wyatt Flores stepped on stage. If you compared the set of songs with the ones of the previous Welcome To The Holler tour stages, his 60 minute did not feature the songs expected. The rationale was that he played without a setlist, adopting his set of songs flexibly. Some of the first songs he played were Welcome to the Plains and Running Out of Time. In contrast to the Berlin show, he had two other musicians on stage, a guitarist and a multi-instrumentalist. This especially meant that he did not tour with his fiddle player Kenzie Sue Miracle, who I loved to watch in Berlin. Cologne more and more loved the traditional, calm, but also musically high level performance by Wyatt and his bandmates. They also appreciated the more emotional tracks like Way I Do.

With the The Fray cover How to Save a Life latest, Wyatt Flores almost felt to be like a headline artist on that evening. Later in the set, he played songs like Please Don’t Go, Oh Susannah or Drunk in Love. There was massive applause for the support artist, when Wyatt Flores left the stage after one hour.

49 Winchester with a great performance

49 Winchester kicked off their almost 90 minute set at 20:35. Their set was obviously focused on songs of their latest album, but featured all eras of their work. For example, they early played Hays, Kansas and Chemistry from their 2020 album III. Towards the middle of the set, they also presented a new song, Bringing Home the Bacon. The second half of the set featured some of their biggest songs like Everlasting Lover, Russell County Line or Anchor. The Cologne crowd appreciated the great performance at a rather packed (but not sold out arena), partying with the rocking as well as the more traditional tracks. The evening closed with the encore, consisting of Hillbilly Happy and Changes.

49 Winchester – My View

I really loved that evening in Cologne. Wyatt Flores underlined that he is an excellent musician. His acoustic set was amazing and Cologne thanked him for that. 49 Winchester continued with a great set. Compared to their previous appearance in Cologne, the sound was significantly better, so that you could easily listen to the songs. A really great show on that Wednesday evening.
