Flyctory.com Pros

  • Very entertaining album
  • Nice range of songs and moods

Just seven years after the German band has been founded, Kupergold is already releasing their fourth studio album. Fasan Alarm is released on 23rd May 2025. I had a listen and share my thoughts.

Kupfergold – About The Artists

Kupfergold (also: Formatio Kupfergold) is a band from the German Rheinland region, founded in 2018. The founding members are Bonnie Banks, Eric Rhymes and Sebastian Bummbummbasti RömerThe band name derives from the hair color of Bonnie and Eric. Later Kai der Hai was added to the band line-up. They do folk-pop music and also became more and more popular with Medieval-style songs. They call their sound Asi-Folk by themselves. In 2019, they released the Irish folk album Koboldkeile, followed by Heiliger Bimbatz in 2021. With their most recent album, the 2024 Lichtermeer, Kupfergold had their first headline tour.

Kupfergold – Fasan Alarm – Track by Track

The ten track album lasts 32 minutes.

1. Fasan Alarm

Kupfergold kicks off their 2025 album with the title track. The song is like a Medieval-style wake up call. A folk song with a nostalgic sound – and a lot of energy. The instrumental themes stay in your mind, which especially the chorus is just made to sing along with band. Willkommen im Fasanenreich (“Welcome to Pheasant Land”). I feel welcome from the first moment.

2. Und ‘n Tripper

The rhyhtmic Und ‘n Tripper – it indeed translates to “And A Clap” – illustrates the straight and raw style of Kupergold’s music best. The song is full of bad wishes. Never mess up with songwriters – the reaction might be a song like this one.

(“I wish the plague on your neck
A snot on your dick
I wish your bed was empty
A room full of mold
I wish you lice on your balls
And a life without beer
Sodom and Gomorrah
And I wish you the clap”)

3. Muschelbusen

The first moments of Muschelbusen could have been taken from Disney’s Arielle movies. The maritime style stays and the song is indeed about a mermaid. Of course, there is a typical Kupfergold twist in this song as well, when Bonnie Banks asks Komm an meinen Muschelbusen – “Come to my shell bust”. A beach fairy tale made to smile.

4. Kupfer Und Gold

Kupfergold are singing about Kupfer Und Gold – which means about themselves. After the beach episode before, they now melt your face with hard rock and metal tunes. Thereby the band states Wir sind das härteste Zeug im Periodensystem (“We are the hardest stuff in the periodic table”). Fasan Alarm is a fun album, but this one is one of the most entertaining tracks. You have to state that elements like the fiddle still keep that Medieval and folk style in the sound dominated by hard guitar riffs.

5. Der Metmeister

If your neck hurt from all the headbanging before, the pop-ish Der Metmeister (“The Mead Master”) gives you almost four minutes of relaxing. The lead singer is very present, the melodic chorus is a great song to sing with the band. Happy vibes made from the Rheinland region. I like it.

6. Rammlerina

You just cannot deny that Fasan Alarm features a wide range of songs. Rammlerina is a melancholic ballad. Kupfergold underline that they can also do the more quiet and less funny moments. A special and catching album on the record.

7. Koboldkeilerei

The title of this song roughly translates to “Goblin Brawl”. The present fiddle and present beat remind of Irish folk and make you move from the very first song. The song is about a treasure of gold at the end of the rainbow – what else could it be? And of course, there is a goblin who defends it. The nice and fun storytelling. Und habt ihr vor, sein Gold zu holen, müsst ihr ihm seinen Arsch versohlen – “And if you plan to grab his gold, you need to kick his butt”.

8. Der Klügere Kippt Nach

In German, there is the proverb Der Klügere gibt nach – “The more clever one gives in”. Here, obviously, the title is Der Klügere kippt nach – “The more clever one has another drink” (roughly). Kupfergold present a die-hard drinking song. This time, they use the typical Cologne region slang in the stanzas. A fun one, which would definitely work out in the carnival season around Cologne Cathedral.

9. Met Kasalla Uss Valhalla

As a person who was born and lived most of the time in the Rheinland region, this one is a highlight. Kasalla is not only a Cologne colloquial word for “hassle”, but also a name of a local carnival rock band. The Cologne dialect song is playing with this double meaning and praises Cologne life and culture, especially the carnival season.

10. Zombie Malone

The album closes with a dark and thrilling story. The song is about the Dublin icon, who died in the 17th century due to cholera. In Kupfergold’s, she lives on as a zombie. Maybe not the type of song you expect as the chucker-out of this record, but the song works out really fine.

Kupfergold – Fasan Alarm – My View

When I listened to Fasan Alarm the first time, I just had to go for a deeper listen. The more I got into the album, the more I loved it. There is a wide range of songs, a wide range of moods. However, all the tracks have in common that they are at least entertaining or fascinating. A really nice ten song release by Kupfergold.

Favorite Song: Und ‘n Tripper
