My last stay during my October 2022 trip to Florida was in Orlando. Even though I visited a Weird Al Yankovic show in Clearwater, I stayed in the city and thus had the opportunity to have three nights in a row there. Due to my preference for Hilton Hotels, I went for the Homewood Suites Orlando Theme Parks. Here is the review of my stay.
Homewood Suites Orlando Theme Parks – Location
The naming Orlando Theme Parks may be a bit too imprecise – in fact, there is some sort of theme park almost everywhere in Orlando. The Homewood Suites by Hilton Orlando Theme Parks is in fact located close to the Interstate I-4 and in the Sea World Orlando area. I feel that the area is generally quite convenient if you visit the Florida entertainment metropolis. I already introduced you to the Hilton Garden Inn Orlando At Sea World, which is more or less across the street. The area features several hotels, the luxury park Discovery Cove, but also restaurants and a major grocery store (Publix)
The is a bus station in front of the hotel (bus 08). However, you very likely have a car when you opt for this hotel. Self-parking is 17 USD per day.
Homewood Suites Orlando Theme Parks – Room
I had a three night stay at the Homewood Suites in Orlando. The semi-flex rate (i.e. five day cancellation period) was 478.50 USD for a three night stay in mid-October 2022. The large room felt really modern. There is a lovely living room coner with a sofa and the possibility to watch TV. I used the eating table in the kitchen area for work. The kitchen feels large, especially due to a huge fridge. Just having two cooking plates in contrast to that felt a bit imbalanced. Of course, there is a microwave oven as well. Another nice feature is the dishwasher.
The sleeping area with the ensuite bathroom felt really nice as well and was even larger than I know it from other Homewood Suites hotels. Compared to the very spacious remaining room, I am tempted to use the word “compact” for the bathroom – but that would definitely not be fair, as the bathtub bathroom offered more than sufficient space as well. The room was serviced very well by the house keeping.
Homewood Suites Orlando Theme Parks – Breakfast
The complimentary Homewood Suites breakfast is in fact quite a bit of an upgrade compared to the breakfast you typically get at a Hampton Inn. The buffet in Orlando was nicely organized and even though these theme park area hotels do have strong peak times, it felt to me that they keep the buffet running reasonably. The chances of not getting a table felt at least higher than not getting the food of your choice. Food contained changing warm dishes, several kinds of bread, some fruit and cereals. Of course, there is also the good, old Mickey-shaped waffle machine. Overall, I really enjoyed breakfast at the Homewood Suites Orlando Theme Parks.
Homewood Suites Orlando Theme Parks – Service
The hotel features a typical US-American outdoor pool. I was wondering if the shape of the pool somehow correlates to Mickey Mouse. There is also a gym and a business room. Overall, the staff was fine. However, I had several internet connection problems during my stay. Claiming that at the reception made me rather feel that the hotel employees did not care about my problem. This obviously felt very annoying to me.
Homewood Suites Orlando Theme Parks – My View
Homewood Suites is one of my favorite Hilton Hotel brands. The Orlando hotel perfectly illustrates the reasons for that, especially the large rooms and the opportunity to have heat up a quick bite. Bad luck that you don’t get a “proper” kitchen like in other suite hotels. The only negative thing about this specific hotel was the poor WiFi quality and the staff unwilling to solve it.
