Andras Czitrom has definitely been one of the key drivers of floorball development in Hungary. For the second time, the Hungarian Floorball Federation drove the Czitrom Andreas Hungaria Kupa in honor of the entrepreneur of the sports. Men and women gathered in Erd, Southwest of Budapest. However, the first two matches had to be played at the Angyalföldi Sportsköszpont in the heart of the Hungarian capital. Due to overlapping schedules, I could just cover the first match there, the battle of the Austrian women and the Slovakian Under 19 Girls. I unfortunately just was able to attend the first tournament day on 18th October 2024.

Austria – Slovakia U19 – Match Report
If you felt that the even the young Slovakian ladies will have an easy cruise against their neighbor state, Austria proofed you wrong in the first period. Especially in the first minute of the match, the Austrians played quite agile and had a few decent chances. They had a very solid playbook and also did not allow that many good scoring chances on the goal of their netminder, Robyn Truttmann. However, over the pressure increased on their goal over the first period – and thus, it was neither surprising nor undeserved when Nina Kopcanova gave Slovakia the lead after sixteen minutes. However, this was also the only score in the first twenty minutes.
Austria closes up – but Slovakia did Last Minute Magic
Also in the second period, Austria had a good start. When Slovakia scored the second time, it felt like the match is going its way. Terezia Kamenska was in a central position after a nice pass by Ema Pucekova in the 27th minute and made her team cheer. However, it was Slovakian team, who brought back Austria into the match. A die-hard own goal without any pressure by the opponents closed up the score in the 30th minute. The ball even crossed the line briefly thereafter, but the Austrian defender stood in the goalkeepers area, even hitting Slovakia’s goalie Romana Venekova on the head. The goalie needed to have some ice, but was able to play on.
Nonetheless, the Austrians did have a good second period. Especially when the put pressure on the Slovakian defenders at ball possession, they had some nice turnovers, which lead to decent chances. The more, it was bad luck from their perspective, that they could not keep that play up and got a hard sportive punishment in the last minute of the period. First, it was Katarina Knotkova, who passed the activated goalie Anna Mitteregger, comverted with a fast break. Pucekova scored their first goal as a buzzer-beater. Thus, Slovakia had a comfortable 4-1 lead after forty minutes.
Austria “winning” the Third Period
After 4:34 minutes in the third period, Austria cheered for their first self-scored goal. Alice Casutt’s attempt gave back faith to her team. When Vera Gerbert was even able to close up the score to 3-4, there was some chance for a comeback. Even though both teams had some scattered chances, it was finally Zuzana Mrazova, who decided the match. With some four minutes left to play, she completed a right wing attack to the final 3-5 score.
Mandatory Shoot-Out: Victory by Austria
The organizers of the Czitrom Andras Hungaria Cupa decided that all matches have a five attempt shoot-out at the end, regardless of the score. With a 2-0 victory there, Austria had a pleasing happy ending after the regular match time.

Austria – Slovakia U19 – My View of the Match
You should likely not over-estimate this match. The Under 19 Girls from Slovakia are just at the beginning of their WFC 2026 campaign and still have quite some time to settle their game. However, you have to pay respect to the Austrians, who showed a very disciplined performance, but also lacked a bit in offensive skills. Some better sniping abilities would definitely have given them better chances in this match.
