That’s all? That’s roughly I thought when I finally had a rather short long list of candidates for my Songs of the Week this time. The Easter holidays in most Christian cultures and Good Friday feel to lead to the situation that record companies are a bit of shy about releasing new music. I am confidentt that I found some gems, though.
Felix Muhr – Kindheitshöd
The Austrian artist Felix Muhr is rather well known for traditional German language folk music. However, his homage to his grandfather, Kindheitshöd (Austrian German for “Childhood Hero”). is just too catching and comes with some nice rock elements. I really like it.
Joe Satriani & Steve Vai (Satch/Vai) – The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1
I am a bit of jealous of US concert visitors. Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are currently on tour together. As Satch/Vai, the two outstanding US-American guitarists now released The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1. Definitely an outstanding listen.
Anna Catharina – Am I Wrong?
The Vienna artist Anna Catharina is something like the “early bird” of this edition of the Songs of the Week. Her song Am I Wrong? has been released last Saturday already and thus just missed the deadline of my previous Songs of the Week. Nice pop track with a touch of rock.
Take That – You And Me
Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Marc Owen are still active and do great pop songs. Even without Robbie Williams, the British trio can definitely be called European music legends. Take That are on tour this summer.
Jonathan Roy – Nice To Meet You
The Canadian alternative rock artist Jonathan Roy is just about to go on tour through Europe. This week, he is releasing the song after which the dates are named, Nice To Meet You. Very nice listen. By the way, you find the tour dates in my tour date overview.
Firstborn Unicorn – Huckleberry
Firstborn Unicorn are a German band from Frankfurt. The trio does a mixture of funk and rock, but also mix hip hop elements to their sound. However, their new single Huckleberry is a rather straight pop-rocker.
Pond – (I’m) Stung
The next song of this posting takes us to Australia. The psychedelic rock band Pond is sharing their new song (I’m) Stung with us this week. They are touring Europe in fall 2024.
Max Lean ft. Bella X – My Way
Born in Brussels in Belgium, Max Lean has established in the German new house scene. This week, he is releasing his new pop release, My Way. For this song, he is pairing up with the German singer-songwriter and DJane Bella X.
