Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 19 August 2022)

Honestly, I had a lot of 1970’s and 1980’s songs in mind the last days – so exclude me in case you feel this new selection of Songs of the Week a bit too outdated. On the other hand, it is an interesting mix of songs and artists, lead by a project from Norway.

Sonic Wildhearts – Hey Rosie

Rock with a touch of brass sounds (which somehow reminds of ska vibes as well). When I heard this song for the first time, I had to smile and dance – and this feeling simply did not change. Hope you have fun with Ole Halvorsen and his band.

The Wombats – Is This What It Feels Like To Feel Like This?

This song has in fact already been released on Tuesday. The Wombats are a British indie-rock band from the city where the really cool sounds come from – Liverpool. An EP feels to be released in winter.

A Black Rainbow – Weird World

A Black Rainbow is a German music project of Brainchild and Wilson Gonzales Ochsenknecht. A dark electronic sound, which also has a modern rock touch. Nice one.

Billy Idol – Cage

Okay, I don’t need to introduce you to Billy Idol. And his new single Cage? Just listen. It’s a good one.

Casino Blackout – Wo es wehtut

This playlist is a forth and back in the map of music: we are traveling from London (Billy Idol) to Southern Germany, where Casino Blackout do a very characteristic blend of punk and pop sounds. I really love their new single Wo es wehtut (“Where it hurts”).

The Struts – Fallin’ With Me

The British band The Struts is more and moving up in my sympathy. Straight rock song with a touch of glam and a nice flavor of British irony. It rocks and it is fun… I like it 🙂

Ugly Kid Joe – Long Road

Southern rock, even a touch of country in Long Road – it just feels so good to me to listen to Ugly Kid Joe and their 2022 sound. Taken from the album Rad Wings of Destiny, which will be released on 22nd October 2022

Pegasus – Come Home

Pegasus is a band from SwitzerlandCome Home is their latest single, taken from the album Future: Memories released about half a year ago. Very impressive sound. Love it!

Röyksopp feat. Susanne Sundfor – Oh, Lover

Back to Norway: Röyksopp (which is a kind of mushroom in local language – here rather: mushroom cloud) did another really cool trip-hop / synth pop song. The high voice of their countrywoman Susanne Sundfor is an amazing add-on. One of my favorite listens this week.

Markus – Keine Eile

Markus released a new single from his party album Das Leben liebt mich… und ich liebe das Leben. I liked the album – that’s also a nice good mood pop track.

Crystal Rock x Pule & Juan Daniel – Under The Sea (Bajo el Mar)

Okay, let’s make it quick: if you are not having strong summer feelings while listening to this track, you might have simply chosen the wrong one. In case the song is familiar to you: it is in fact a track of the Arielle Disney movie.

Stefanie Heinzmann – Carry The World

In general, I am a great fan of the music Stefanie Heinzmann is recording. Her new single Carry The World is another really lovely pop track.

Zedd feat. Maren Morris & BEAUZ – Make You Say

Zedd and Maren Morris join forces again – time for another global hit? I would strongly guess that Make You Say will not be even close to the 1.3 billion streams on Spotify which this duo reached with The Middle. But… Let’s proof me wrong – it’s not a bad one at all.

Swindle – Miss Kane

The list of songs is this time closed by two very special ones. The first one is Miss Kane by the British project Swimdle. No lie, I just love it. First time, I feel that I nominated a jazz track, which is not somehow linked to pop music.

Max Raabe & das Palast Orchester feat. Peter Plate – Der Sommer

Last, but not least, there is Max Raabe. The German artist, who is doing his tracks in a very characteristic 1920’s style. Der Sommer (“The summer”) is another outstanding work by the baritone.
