Whole I struggled with squeezing floorball matches in Germany into my schedule in previous seasons, the 2024/25 provides a schedule more suitable to me. On 3rd November 2024, I headed to my birth town Bonn for a match in the Women Floorball Bundesliga. The SSF Dragons Bonn hosted TSG Erlensee, Bonn felt to be the definite favorite in this match, but Erlensee did have played some interesting matches in the season so far and definitely had some underdog chances in that one.

SSF Dragons Bonn – TSG Erlensee – Match Report
The match started very tactically and rather slow. Both teams played solid defense and struggled to have effective offensive plays. Erlensee felt having the slightly better start, but Bonn just needed some more minutes to develop better plays. The were also rather little interruptions at the beginning of the match. Friederike Schlotmann felt to give her team a wake-up call when her shot from the distance (15th) was saved by Linnea Könnecke by a nice mask save.
Just druing that time when Bonn felt to become stronger, Maya Birnbaum gave the lead to the TSG. In the 16th minute, she scored from a half-right position and passed Lola Wischer with an average shot. Briefly thereafter, Bonn’s netminder struggled after a rather easy shot, but could finally scratch it from the line. Erlensee had the better attacks in the first period, but Schlotmann tied the score with just 19 second left in the first twenty minute with a nice snipe.
Not Too Much Action in the Second Period
The second period felt to be very similar than the first period. The teams did start rather agile in the first minutes, but then hardly created any opportunities worth noticing. Overall, Könnecke played a strong role in Erlensee’s defense and had some nice saves. Her biggest one was a fast break block against Annika Weißkirchen. Just when her team felt to start believing that this match could have a fortunate ending, Emma Fischbach gave Bonn the lead in the 37th minute. The score after 40 minutes felt a bit of lucky for the Dragons. Vice versa, Erlensee simply struggled to have good shots on the opponent’s goal.
Bonn Smiling After 60 Minutes
You might expect that Erlensee would push for the tie in the final period. However, time felt to tick down more and more, Bonn mostly had some control of the game without too many scoring chances. You would have expected some thrill due to close score, but Erlensee did not create too much pressure in that game. Thus, they pulled Könnecke rather early in the match, with more than three minutes left to play. But even with six field players, there were just a few average shots. It felt a bit too easy for Bonn to defend to close lead until the final siren.

SSF Dragons Bonn – TSG Erlensee – My View of the Match
Comparing the Erlensee team with their 2023/24 season match against Dümpten, I was really impressed how well the team improved. The Hesse girls were much better in tactical play and were very disciplined. This lead to quite some struggle on the Bonn side, who finally won this match deservedly due to the very controlled third period.
