At the end of an interesting trip in June 2021, I stayed at the Mercure Hotel Hannover (Hanover) City. I have been looking for a place, which is well connected to the main station as well as being close to the Sixt car rental office, where I had leased the car for the trip.
Mercure Hotel Hannover City – Location
The hotel is located in the Bleichenstraße, close to the Aegidientorplatz. There is a bus station (connecting to the Kröpke Underground stop) right in front of the hotel – alternatively, you can directly use the traffic and underground connections from the “Aegi”, how the locals call the Aegidientorplatz.
The location of the hotel is really nice. It is short walking distance to the pedestrian zone / shopping district. In close proximity of the hotel, there is a nice park with the Maschteich lake and numerous dining options.
Mercure Hotel Hannover City – The Room
I booked a standard room, which was a prepaid one night rate of 68.40 Euro, including breakfast. This has been an extremely competitive rate. Thus, I feel it was absolutely fine that the room has been a bit of compact. I loved the large work desk at the window and that there were plenty of power plugs for my technical equipment. Overall, a really nicely designed room.
The bathroom was fully in line with the living / sleeping area: A bit of compact, but were wisely designed so that you did not feel that limited in it. The whole room was absolutely clean. Thus, the room was exactly what I was aiming for with my booking.
Mercure Hotel Hannover City – Breakfast
The restaurant in which breakfast was served was actually really nice. I especially loved the beautifully designed “Do your own breakfast bowl” area, which featured a lot of items. Staff was really attentive and helpful and I enjoyed having a nice buffet breakfast. The hotel is also having a nice hotel bar area.
Mercure Hotel Hannover City – Services
The staff in the hotel was simply amazing. As the hotel restaurant just had a very limted menu due to the low Covid-19-caused booking figures, I went for a Turkish take-away and wanted to eat the stuff in the room. Coming back to the hotel, the receptionist insisted to give me proper cutlery. I never had something like that. The hotel also excused for their average internet speed, even though I felt the WiFi was actually absolutely fine. Mercure Hotel Hanover City also drives a gym with a sauna, but the facilities were closed during my visit. One thing which is a bit of bothering is that the hotel just had one elevator to my room level – which means that you may have to wait a bit, especially during morning hours.
Mercure Hotel Hannover City – My View
The Mercure Hotel Hannover City was really a nice stay, which absolutely fulfilled my needs – and my expectation. The location is really nice – close enough to city center, but in a quite relaxed area. The staff and the breakfast both were amazing – there was no doubt that this stay is a Flyctory.com Top Pick!
