  • Very intense atmopshere
  • Beautiful songwriting

In November 2024, I ran into the EP It’s Okay by the Norwegian band Intertwine when I scanned for potential new releases. The band is doing indie-pop with dream pop elements. However, the release has been significantly delayed and has now been published on 14th March 2025. Sometimes, the EP title is also given with four underscores, It’s _ _ _ _ Okay. Here is my reivew.

Intertwine – About The Artist

Intertwine is a indie-pop band from Oslo. The band is active since 2013. The latest lineup I found is lead artist and songwriter Tarjei Zakarias Ekelund, bassist Alexander Berg and rummer Ruben Nesse. They released their debut album Goraikoo in 2015. There were just scattered single releases thereafter, until the band released three singles this year towards the EP It’s Okay, the first one released by them.

Intertwine – It’s Okay – Track by Track

The five track EP lasts 21 minutes.

1. Amazing

The EP starts with a slow, nicely flowing ballad, Amazing. A song, which is full of beauty and positive energy. When I selected the EP for a review in November 2024, this track has been a key reason. And it is still a real beauty.

2. Paranoia

Paranoia welcomes the listener with a light, easy melody, in which a tootling piano feels being the key catching. However, after its intro section, the second track comes with a beautiful and gentle flow. The song works as a ballad for romantic moments as well as to dig deeper into the track and escaping from life for more than four minutes.

3. When You’re Gone

When You’re Gone has been released after the originally planned publication date. Again, the Norwegian artists are going for a slow arrangement, which is creating an intense atmosphere. This time, there is a bit of sadness and melancholy, which does not harm the overall very dreaming style of the track. Definitely a nice one.

4. Slowdance

The piano is again introducing the listener to Slowdance, before other instrumental and rhythmic elements form a wider sound. The song feels even a bit slower than the tracks before. Nonetheless, it has a magical touch, driven by the very soft and gentle vocals and a fine arrangement. I really like this one.

5. To Be a Mountain

It’s Okay closes with To Be a Mountain, which is – by a few seconds – also the longest song of the release. The song also has some slight folk elements. Overall, it is a perfect song to dream away and travel to the musical sphere of Intertwine.

Intertwine – It’s Okay – My View

It’s Okay (or It’s _ _ _ _ Okay) presents five beautifully flowing tracks. The Norwegian band might not hit mainstream radio with this release, but the atmopshere is catching and beautiful. I like it.

Favorite Song: To be a Mountain
