Ladies and gentlemen (and all the others of course as well), we got it: here is my first Songs of the Week edition of 2024, which is lead by a Christmas song. It is not too schmaltzy, I promise. However, this kind of sound is also available in my selection of tracks of the week as of 22nd November 2024. Hope you have a good time with them.
Doro – Rock’n’Roll Xmas Party
The Queen of Metal from Düsseldorf, Germany, is celebrating Christmas as well. Not too surprisingly, she is doing it her very own way. I really love to do the holiday season the hard rocking way. And if you don’t like it: there are also more gentle Santa Clause songs in the list this week.
Indecent Behavior – Chaos
Indecent Behavior is a German pop-punk band, which has been founded in Saarbrücken in 2013. A very catching song with a nice share of punk-rock. I really like it.
Smith/Kotzen – White Noise
Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen are back. The US-American – British duo released heir debut album Smith/Kotzen in 2021. With White Noise, they announce their sophomore album Black Light / White Noise, which will be released on 7th March 2025. The appetizer already makes you keen on the main dish.
Franz Ferdinand – Night Or Day
Night Or Day is the second single of Franz Ferdinand released, which will be part of their new album The Human Fear. The Scottish indie-rockers from Glasgow are sharing their new record on 10th January 2025. This one definitely sounds promising.
Alexander Eder – Ich geh nicht kaputt
The Austrian artist with the characteristic voice shared a new song this week. Ich geh nicht kaputt is surprisingly dark, which – however – suits his voice really well. One of my favorite releases by Alexander Eder this year.
The Wombats – Blood On The Hospital Floor
The band name sounds Australian, but in fact the alternative rockers are from Liverpool. They already look back to a band history of over twenty years. They are just about to tour Australia, before they tour their home country in March 2025 and are on German stages thereafter.
Greyshadow – Start
Greyshadow is an Austrian indie-pop artist from Vienna. Last year, he released his album Unfulfilled Desires. This week, he released Start, a really cool track with a nice international touch.
Argyle – Losing My Mind
Argyle is another Scottish act on my this week’s list. However, Argyle (Singh) is nowadays living in Switzerland. The song teases his upcoming EP Playgrounds In Ruins.
Vince – 365 Tage
Vince is a German artist from Hamburg. He is looking forward to his first headline tour in April 2025. His new single 365 Tage which is mixing pop and hip hop elements, suggests that buying a ticket might be a good decision.
Mary And The Sharks – Prophecy
Mary And The Sharks is an artist from Berlin. Prophecy will also be the title track of her EP, which is expected to be released early in 2025. A nice mixture of indie-rock and alt-pop elements.
LOI – Left In Your Love
After I featured her show in October 2023, I really admire LOI and her music. A new tour is scheduled for early 2025 (see my tour date overview). The Mannheim-origin artist released a new song this week – lovely sound again.
Letkowski – Kleiner Frieden
The title of this song translates to “Little Peace”. Christoph Letkowski is not only a German musician, but majorly known as an actor as well. This song feels like a beautiful winter soundtrack.
Robbie Williams – Forbidden Road
A new UK / Europe tour in 2025, his biopic Better Man and much more – Robbie Williams is really busy in the upcoming weeks and months. The new single by the British artist is part of his motion picture soundtrack. a gentle song nicely fitting into the cold Christmas season.
Y We Try feat. Abbie Parker – Christmas Without You
Back to the Santa Clause soundtrack. I had quite a lot of Christmas songs of different kinds. One of them is the collaboration of Swiss Tobias Frey (as Y We Try) and Abbie Parker. The song is a typical kitschy season pop track. But I like it.
Dawes – Christmas Tree in the Window
Dawes is a Californian folk rock band around the brother Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith. The Los Angeles-origin act shared this beautifully gentle Christmas release with us this week. A really pleasant experience.
Nadine Auer – Weihnachtszeit
Adding some kitsch at the very last moment: Nadine Auer’s contribution to the family season is this Chrismas schlager. A nice, melodic listen.
