Eric Paslay is one of the biggest secret stars of the country music genre to me. A fantastic songwriter, who inspired so many tracks and a great artist. I really feel gifted to have seen him on stage a few times including a concert in Aschaffenburg in 2019. On 3rd July 2020, he is going to release a new EP, Heartbeat Higher. Another fine one? Here is my review.

 

Eric Paslay – About The Artist

You find quite a lot of bio about the 1983-born Texas country artist on Flyctory.com already, especially in the Aschaffenburg September concert review. Some of the songs Eric Paslay wrote for other country artists are Barefoot Blue Jean Night (Jake Owen), Even if it breaks Your Heart (Will Hoge / Eil Young Band) or Angel Eyes, interpreted by Love and Theft. All of these songs topped the country charts. However, his only US country chart Top 10 hit performed by himself is Friday Night (2013), which is one of my all-time favorites.

The four track EP roughly lasts 16 minutes

1. Heartbeat Higher (feat. Sarah Button)

We know the title track already – and we know it is a great one. Eric Paslay, one just has to love you. And you absolutely deserve the music admiration of everone. Fantastic song and great collaboration with Sarah Button

2. On This Side of Heaven

Another song, which has already been released before the EP – and so different to the title track. So intimate, so direct. You have to listen to Eric Paslay and enjoy his story. And therefor, he is giving you a fantastic time. It just touches you. Wow.

3. I Took A Pill in Ibiza

I did not have the title in mind any more. In the first seconds I just thought, “Wow, Eric is doing another really good one here” – but of course when you reach the chorus latest, you just feel that this song is too familiar to you. An amazing cover of the song, which Mike Posner made famous and got additional attraction by the Seeb remix. Nominated for the Grammy Award – Song of the Year and an incredible success – this version by Eric Paslay would deserve to do big as well.

4. Boat In A Bottle

If there is a four song-concentrate of Eric Paslay music, it is hard to imagine that this master of country of country music gives you a weak one. There is just no need to be disappointed: Paslay delivers a powerful summer country party song to finish this set – it may be one of the musical stars of your 2020 parties!
