Dee Dammers - Beyond The Shadows
Flyctory.com Pros
- Great instrumental hard rock album
- Very atmospheric with good theatrical plots
- Instrumental excellence
I have run into Dee Dammers multiple times. The first time I saw him live on stage, my brother in law played as support act for his band Dirty D’Sire. Later, he stepped in for some performances of the German Rock of Ages musical tour. Last, but not least, I was honored to cover his show with Dirkschneider in Frankfurt in March 2025 with Flyctory.com. On 15th March 2026, Dammers releases his sophomore solo album. Here is my review of Beyond The Shadows.

Dee Dammers – About The Artist
Fabian Dee Dammers is a German guitarist, songwriter and producer. He was born on 29th March 1992 and majorly works in the rock and hard rock / metal area. Dammers is originally from Krefeld, but nowadays lives in Southern Germany. He played with several bands including the British band The Treatment, while he was living in England in the mid-2010’s. Nowadays, he is best known as part of the band U.D.O. / Dirkschneider by Udo Dirkschneier. Dammers has released one solo album so far. Bubbly Joyride To Utopia has been released exactly on Dammer’s 28th birthday.
Dee Dammers – Beyond The Shadows – Track by Track
The ten track album lasts 45 minutes.

1. Prologue II: Once Upon a Time
The album is instrumental, but the narrative intro uses some lyrics. Once Upon a Time leads nicely into the story of Beyond The Shadows within 74 seconds.
2. Beyond The Shadows
If you expect a rock firework at the beginning of the album, you might be surprised. Dee Dammers welcomes you with a fine piano melody. The title track takes seven minutes, gradually introducing more instruments and increasing the energy. After some two minutes latest, you are caught by the melodies of the song and explore the magic of instrumental music. Even though the guitar becomes a dominant part of the song, it is the whole, magical atmosphere which creates pictures in your mind. Towards the end, this epic gets a hymnic and very intense touch.
3. Satan
Satan has been one of two songs Dee has shared before the album. It soon kicks off with heavy riffs, stomping beats and fine key elements. It is amazing how the lead guitar can take over an almost vocal role in songs like this. The song keeps its fast pace. Even though the song does not come with a that strong dramatic plot as the predecessor, it is very entertaining and impressing.
4. Summer Rain
In the next song, Dammers takes us right into a Summer Rain. Not too surprisingly, the summer day has quite some rock influence. Nonetheless, especially the playful lead guitar part is spreading some ease and happiness. Just when the rock soul seems to be dominating the song, there is also some time to cool down. Beyond The Shadows stays a very enjoyable listen.
5. Frankenstein
Is it getting more scary again? The fifth song of the album is the almost five minutes Frankenstein. However, Dammers starts the song with a clear focus on the lead guitar and underlines his instrumental excellence. Later parts of the song even include some strumming guitar parts, where this trip to Transylvania has a touch of folk music. Nice.
6. Ever Ever After
Ever Ever After is a straight rock track. Again, the lead guitar takes a very narrative role. You simply don’t miss that guy on the microphone while listening to this record. The main theme of the song adds a very precious touch to the listen. If you like classic rock, this one will warm your heart. Also enjoy the beautiful, gentle fade-out.
7. Glitter
Already the first moments of Glitter remind me of classic hard rock bands like the Scorpions. The drums are a bit harder, the guitars play the more intense chords. However, the song stays very melodic. This one could easily be a late 1980’s song as well.
8. Take My Hand
Take My Hand sounds like a rather romantic experience – and that’s what the beginning of the song is suggesting as well. After some half a minute (and some three still remaining), the energy of the song boots significantly, though. Nonetheless, the song is also coming back to the finer and more quiet style as well. I really love this track.
9. If I Could Do It All Over Again
The penultimate track surprises with an easy pop-rock style. If I Could Do It All Over Again is having some more rocking parts, but it is also the feelgood song of the album. I really enjoy the fine sway of it.
10. Fairytale
Fairytale has been the second single release of Beyond The Shadows. The song indeed spreads fairytale vibes at the beginning, even though there is some threatening and dark touch in the song as well. This musical narration takes six minutes, presenting different themes and sections. The atmosphere is intense, not only when the song becomes more limited in the choice and presence of instruments. You also have very rough and hard riffs in later parts of the song, which thus feels very theatrical again. This one is indeed a worthy final listen of the album.

Dee Dammers – Beyond The Shadows – My View
Beyond The Shadows is truly a masterpiece. Just with the power of melodies and instruments, Dee Dammers recorded ten intense listens. The atmosphere of the tracks is intense and fascinating. A great instrumental experience.
