On the second match of Saturday’s Under 19 World Floorball Championships 2026 European Qualification, France faced Germany. So far, the German National Team felt very strong and convincing, and you could expect that they would add a third victory to their record, which would definitely bring them to Italy in May. France, however, did travel to Berlin with some interesting and dangerous young players in their squad. Here is my match report.
This posting comes with a section of 536 major size pictures in a dedicated event section of the sports galleries.

France – Germany – Match Report
France had a quite good start. They created a solid defense, obviously not launching too many attacks. Nonetheless, it did take the German team quite a bit of time to break the wall the first time. Lilly Fiedler gave Germany the lead in the fifth minute, just after France failed to convert a dangerous fast break attack. The French offensive moments became more rare the closer the match ran towards the first intermission. Germany played a very concentrated match, which is also illustrated by the fact that they scored by Lea Kowar with just two seconds left in the first period. By that goal, Germany already lead by 5-0.

Linnea Könnecke – Boredom in Berlin
Despite Germany just scored four times in the second period, it was their most convincing one of the match to me. Who could tell better than Germany’s goalkeeper on that day, Linnea Könnecke? She did not have a single shot on goal in these twenty minutes. France did not do that bad, but you simply saw how difficult it is for a young team to face that kind of dominance. The four German goals happened within seven minutes, starting with Regina Safenrieder (25th) and closing with Felina Weber (32nd).

Germany Rolls Over France, Part III
It does not make too much sense to tell you about every goal by the German team in this third period – there were finally seven of them. France did become more active in offense – but so did Germany, who had an impressing total of 26 shots on goal in these final twenty minutes. The best illustration for the German dominance was French backup goalie Kelly Frimat. She came into the match in the 30th minute – and in the 55th minute, she was simply that exhausted and mental that starting goalie Claire Paret had to put on the mask again. The final score: 16-0 for Germany.

France – Germany – My View of the Match
There was a small WFC Qualification world for European Under 19 Women’s teams in Berlin that week – and Germany again proofed that they were out of this world. They pay hard for the Lahti 2024 fail – especially as the weird playing system in Under 19 will, in the best possible scenario, make them finish seventh in the final tournament in May in Italy. France did not do a bad match at all, I felt. The gap between the teams was simply too big.
