Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 27th February 2026)

Already in the days before this new episode of my Songs of the Week, I felt: this one’s gonna rock. There were a lot of guitar licks and riffs on the way to complete my weekly new song release overview. I had quite a bunch of interesting ones this time – so I hope you like my new one as much as I do.

Moon Shot – No Walls

As I said, there is a lot of rock music in my post this week. What could be a better country than Finland to lead these Songs of the Week then? Moon Shot are a Finnish alternative rock band, founded in 2019 in Helsinki. They already released two albums, which did considerably well in the domestic album charts. Next week, they are heading off to good, old Germany, to support Die Happy on their tour. Have fun!

Eric Grönwall – Bad Bones

It was a really close call between two Nordic options, about which song would be my favorite one this week. Eric Grönwall is a Swedish singer, who is majorly known as the singer of H.E.A.T. from 2010 to 2020. He also worked with other bands like Skid Row. Bad Bones is the title track of his solo debut album, which will be available on 22nd May 2025. Another really great song from the North of Europe.

Wolfgang – Flames of Evil

The band name Wolfgang might not absolutely suggest it – Wolfgang is a new classic rock and hard rock band from the Faroe Islands. The quartet consists of Einar Jacobsen (vocals), Bergmann Finnsson (guitar), Kári Streymoy (drums), and Gunnar Helmer Thomsen (bass). Flames of Evil is in fact the band’s debut single.

Social Distortion – Born To Kill

Punk rock from California at a very fine level – that’s Social Distortion The band is active since 1978 However, lead singer and guitarist Mike Ness is the last remaining founding member of the band. Born To Kill is the title track of the band’s new album. The release date is 8th May 2026.

Myrath – Breathing Near The Roar

Myrath – I simply love these guys. The metal band from Tunisia is extensively touring Europe this year – I just added their tour dates to my Tour Date Overview. This week, they share a new song, Breathing Near The Roar. It will be great fun when they are sharing it on stage soon.

Talco – BSide 1: Banality Deathmatch

Punk meets ska and rock – that’s the music of Talco. The band from Maghera, one of the mainland boroughs of Venice, is active since the beginning of the century already. They majorly release music in Italian and have quite a cool songbook. This week, they add BSide 1: Banality Deathmatch to it. The song is inspired by the legendary Celebrity Deathmatch on MTV. A lot of fun from Italy

H.E.A.T. – Set Me on Fire

I already mentioned the Swedish hard rockers from Uppsala when I shared the solo song release by their former singer Eric Grönwall. With original singer Kenny Leckremo being back at the microphone, H.E.A.T. is one of my favorite listens from Sweden – and regularly featured on my blog. This week, they released the hard rock ballad Set Me on Fire. What a great, hymnic one.

Freunde und Helden – Schnall die Flügel an

Freunde und Helden are a rock band from Radolfzell in the German part of the Lake Constance region. They are already active since 1991. The straight rocker Schnall die Flügel an is a fun listen, which feels like a perfect song for gigs.

Johannes Oerding – Mehr Glück als Verstand

Mehr Glück als Verstand – “More Luck than Mind” is a typical German phrase. Since Friday, it is also the title of a Johannes Oerding song.  The lovely track will be part of his 27th March 2026 album release, Hotel.

Alex Warren – Fever Dream

At the 2026 Grammy Awards, Alex Warren was on the nominee list for the Best New Artist. What a stunning career by the US-American artist who is from Carlsbad, a city between Los Angeles and San Diego. Another time, this new release Fever Dream underlines the musical quality of the singer-songwirter.

Die Mayerin – Gold

Die Mayerin is a pop singer-songwriter artist from Austria. Three of her albums made it into the Top 5 of the Austrian charts. Her new song Gold is a very straight and well-produced song.

Katiuska McLean – Do Anything

Another Austrian artist I feature this week is Katiuska McLean. She became famous by competing in the German versions of America’s Got Talent and The Voice. She is originally from Trinidad and Tobago. A modern pop song with a really nice voice.

Davina Michelle – Still Champagne

At the end of the year, Davina Michelle will be on her Afterparty tour. She is very popular in her home country, the Netherlands, where her singles received several platinum records and topped the charts. A very modern pop track, which is a nice listen.

Gudrid Hansdottir – Epoxyprimer

I always try to share some music from the Faroe Islands in my Songs of the Week. However, it rather rarely happens that there are two songs in the same week. In addition to Wolfgang, there is Gudrid Hansdottir. She she about to release her seventh studio album overall, Syrublad, on 10th April 2026. Like at her new single Epoxyprimer, she is doing folk pop with influences from other genres.

Ampris – Dark Side

I typically don’t feature that much electronic dance music in this new song radar. However, Dark Side by the German DJ Ampris really caught me. A nice song from Kiel in the very North of my home country.

Chrissy – Glücksbetrunken

Chrissy is the artist name of Christina Comaescu, an artist from Ravensburg in the Lake Constance region in Southern Germany. She already started releasing music in 2021 and nowadays does German schlager. The song Glücksbetrunken (something like “Drunk of love”) is a rather typical track of that genre – but it simply caught me.

Gerrit Hericks – Wo immer Du bist

The last song I feature this week is another schlager track. Gerrit Hericks is not only known as an artist, but also as a musical actor. A nice song with a very present beat.
