Arriving late at Toronto Pearson (YYZ) in March 2026, I was looking for a reasonably priced stay close to the airport. Due to my Hilton Hotels preference, I finally opted for the DoubleTree by Hilton Toronto Airport West. Here is my review of the hotel.

DoubleTree Toronto Airport West – Location

The hotel is rather huge, being directly located at Dixie Rd, one of the main roads in Mississauga. It is Southwest of the airport grounds, just a few minutes drive from the terminal. You can already see it when you exit the ON-401 highway. The area features quite a lot of other airport hotels as well. There are also some restaurants around.

Dixie Rd is serviced by a bus, line no. 5. The stop is not too far from the hotel. I guess public transport is rather irrelevant for most travelers. If you want to travel to / from the airport, the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle every 40 minutes. All others likely arrive by car. There is a car park around the hotel, which is unfortunately by far too small for the capacity of the accommodation. Thus, if you arrive late, you more or less have to take the parking garage. It is located in the rear of the hotel. If you arrive later than 19:00, you have to walk around the hotel for checking in. There is a direct access, but it requires a keycard . Furthermore the parking garage does not feature elevators, just staircases. Thus, if you travel with luggage, you need to bring it up/down the driveway. This felt extremely bothering to me. If you pre-book parking, it is 18.02 CAD (so I guess it is 20 CAD after tax, just as the ordinary price…). Paying parking by yourself in the parking garage may be tricky as a foreigner – they use one of those websites which block certain origins, including Europe.

DoubleTree Toronto Airport West – Room

I had one night, Friday to Saturday in March 2026, in a King Deluxe Room. The rate was a non-refundable one, including breakfast due to my Hilton Honors status. The room was really nice and spacious. As very typically for North American hotels, there is no ceiling light in the bedroom area. Especially if the room a bit of larger, it leads to a dark-ish feeling. The room also featured a fridge and a microwave oven, which lead to a nice level of comfort.

The bathroom featuring a walk-in shower was a bit on the compact side. Especially the space for the toilet between the rather large sink area and the shower was limited. On the other side, it did leave sufficient space and comfort for your toiletries, which I highly appreciated. Amenities are provided in dispensers, in addition to a soap bar. The room felt well cleaned and was overall in a good state of maintenance.

DoubleTree Toronto Airport West – Breakfast

I had breakfast on a Saturday morning, which was complimentary due to my Hilton Honors Diamond member status. Nonetheless, I was quite surprised that at an airport hotel, breakfast started rather late, at 7:00. On weekdays, the buffet in the ground floor restaurant opens at 6:00. It came with a rather nice selection – definitely a huge upgrade to the Hampton breakfasts I am used to from the US. There was a nice selection of bread, a decent warm buffet and also an egg live cooking station. The hotel offered a nice range of fruit and healthy options as well. The staff was very kind as well, so that I definitely enjoyed that part of my stay there.

You can also order breakfast items from a menu. The area is used as a restaurant during the evening.

DoubleTree Toronto Airport West – Service

Check-in was rude. I stated that, especially in the dark, there are no obvious routes from the parking garage to the hotel lobby and that I got stuck in a corridor between the main building and the swimming pool. While the female receptionist who served me was rather professional and tried to explain the situation to me, her male colleague dealing with another customer made a face about me to them. Furthermore, I was told that they could not upgrade me because I am on a sale rate – I never explored something similar before. The check-out was very impersonal. I was asked to put my keycard into a box and when I asked what’s on the bill, the reply was that I will receive it by mail. There was no offer to print it or at least to tell me the total amount. At least, I agree to the invoice I finally received – but I felt that this was rather rude behavior.

The hotel drives a typical North American hotel size swimming pool. Regarding the size of the hotel, it felt a bit of small, but on the other side, it was not that frequently used. Thus, the size might be fine. Not too far away from it, there is also a gym on ground floor level – which was actually kind of nice.

DoubleTree Toronto Airport West – My View

The DoubleTree by Hilton Toronto Airport West could be a really nice place. The location and road connection is good, the rooms are nice and the breakfast buffet is a nice treat as well. But then, there is the reception staff. A receptionist making a face on me is absolutely disrespectful. Additionally, the evening route from the parking garage to the hotel lobby is not acceptable in my point of view – especially if you travel with luggage. Thus, I would not recommend the DoubleTree.
