Even though KAMRAD is a rather well-known name in the German music scene, he has just released one album so far. Therefor, Trying Not To Panic is already his fourth EP. I had a deeper listen to the 23rd January 2026 release.

 

Kamrad – About The Artist

Kamrad, civil name Tim Kamrad, is a German singer-songwriter. He was born in Wuppertal on 10th April 1997. Kamrad started playing in multiple bands, before he released his solo debut EP Changes in 2017. One year later, he published his only album so far, Down & Up. Thereafter, there were two EPs, Not Good at Playing Love Songs (2023) and Wanna Be Friends? (2024). His 2022 song Believe received a golden record in Germany and platinum ones in Austria and Switzerland. In 2025, the feature single Be Mine peaked 8th in Germany, 10th in Austria.

 

Kamrad – Trying Not To Panic – Track by Track

The five song EP lasts 12 minutes.

1. Hug Yourself

The EP kicks off with Hug Yourself. A typical Kamrad song – a rhythmic song which stays in your mind. A rather simple plot, but this leads to an easy listen. It’s a fin opener, definitely worth listener.

2. Be Mine

As said above, Be Mine was a big radio track and finally also lead to Tim’s best chart placement in Germany. The melody of the second track is it’s biggest asset. The chorus is almost burning into your memories. Great pop song.

3. Like Me

The songs on Trying Not To Panic are rather short. This leads to a very versatile, entertaining listen. For example, Like Me solely lasts 2:13 minutes. The song has a nice groove and makes you sway to the music. You quickly get into it and sing along to the track. This song definitely cheers you up.

4. If I Break Your Heart

In the chorus of the fourth song, Kamrad sings If I ever break your heart. The song is a bit slower, the rhythmic elements slightly more decent. But they simply work out. Some warming summer vibes by the German artist, which are highly appreciated.

5. Big Smile

The brief durations of the songs also lead to a downside. After five songs, you are fully into Kamrad’s sound – and it is already time to say farewell from this album. Big Smile comes with a smilar signature than the songs before.

There is a certain level of monotony in the EP. The songs are based on similar structures and musical elements. However, they simply work out and lead to nice pop songs, which stay in your mind. Trying Not To Panic definitely comes with some tracks, which will boost your mood or make you dance at the next party.
