by These weeks at the end of December always tend to make me a bit of nervous. Will there be sufficient songs which are worth presenting in my Songs of the Week? Will there by sufficient interesting album releases? I made it – here is a really nice list of new songs as of the week of 20th December 2024.
Florian Künstler – Das Leben hier vermissen
Ich werd’ das Leben hier vermissen – “I will miss living here”. Florian Künstler released an amazing and beautiful song this week about leaving a well-beloved place and moving somewhere else. The song is also part of the soundtrack of the movie Das Leben ist jetzt – die Real Life Guys. Beautiful one!
clide – these lies
Clide is the artist name of Claudio Maselli. The German-US-American artist already had some bigger songs like Broken Parts. The 2020 single release has some 19 million streams on Spotify only. His new single these lies is another really beautiful and gentle listen. A perfect one for the cold season.
skuth – Gratis
In fall 2024, skith released his EP Vielleicht. Now he is back with a new song, Gratis. His voice feels to be perfectly made for this track. Impressing.
Carla Aakre – These Hours
Carla Aakre is a singer-songwriter from Helsinki in Finland. This week, she released the beautifully flowing indie-folk song These Hours. A lovely listen.
Marko Abend – When A Light Goes To The World
After some fails in recent times, Germany is reforming the way they chose their song for the Eurovision Song Contest. Marko Abend wants to represent his country – and hopes to present When A Light Goes To The World in Basel in the 17th May 2024 finals. I like it!
Lisl – Waterwings
Lisl’s civil name is Lisa-Marie Kämpf. Originally from Gotha in Thuringia, she is nowadays living in Würzburg – and doing music. In mid January, she will release her debut EP I Don’t Know If It’s Irony. Right before Christmas, she is teasing the release with Waterwings. A nice modern pop track.
LustfingeR – Baby I Love You
I really like the Munich band LustfingeR. This week, they released a new song, Baby I Love You. A really nice rocker with a traditional rock’n’roll touch.
