While the franchise has some roots back to the early 1970’s, the Henderson Silver Knights became an AHL team with the introduction of the Vegas Golden Knights to the NHL in 2020. The ice hockey team initially played in other arenas in Nevada, before they moved into the brand-new Dollar Loan Center in Henderson in 2022. As my wife and I did not feel to pay the high ticket prices at the amazing T-Mobile Arena during our December 2023 trip, we had a look to the Golden Knight’s farm team. Here are my thoughts about our stadium experience.

 

 

Dollar Loan Center – Location & Traffic

The Dollar Loan Center has been built on the site of the former Henderson Pavilion. The arena is located right South of the I-215, the driving distance from T-Mobile Arena, driving time significantly differ with the traffic situation. While the area South of Dollar Loan Center is rather residential, there are several stores and businesses between the Interstate and the multi-purpose venue.

You can visit Dollar Loan Center by bus, e.g. by line 221 to Green Valley & Paseo Verde. However, I would rather recommend to take a ride share or go to the arena by car. Parking can be pre-booked or paid at the arena, there is a lot of parking space provided. We paid 12 USD for pre-booked parking.

 

Dollar Loan Center – Arena & Ticket Situation

Dollar Loan Center was opened on 8th March 2022. Apart from the Silver Knights, the 5,567 people capacity venue is also used by the Vegas Knight Hawks (indoor American football), basketball G league team Ignite and the volleyball team Vegas Thrill. You see that the area is very modern and based on the rather modern standards. The view from the area is really nice, seating was very comfortable. The rather large and nice video screens are another element underlining how modern this place is.

My wife and I visited the Henderson Silver Knights match against Ontario Reign, which has been coached by German Marco Sturm at that time. I did buy the tickets at the beginning of pre-sale. The center line tickets were 80 USD roughly. The area was well-sold, but you should be able to get ticket rather short-term as well. There were ticketing issues for that match only due to a setup mistake. It took some mails and phone calls to finally solve them. The staff of the Henderson Silver Knights was really lovely and helpful, especially regarding that we are abroad visitors.

 

South Nevada Sports Hall of Fame

One side of the aisles for the Dollar Loan Center features the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame. As this place features some internationally well-known sportsmen, it is a nice place to spend a couple of minutes before the match.

 

Henderson Silver Knights at Dollar Loan Center – Atmosphere

Watching a match of the Vegas Golden Knights is an impressing experience. Thus, I also expected that their farm team is doing a nice show. Indeed, the atmosphere was really nice – and the medieval-knight alike branding was very well done and entertaining. The pre-game show was truly impressing, especially compared to other AHL locations. The locals love their Silver Knights, the atmosphere and support was rather nice, compared to other Western USA places.

 

Dollar Loan Center – Food & Shopping

There is a nice variety of food and drink services. We really liked that, apart from typical stadium food, there are also some comparably healthy options like a chicken teriyaki rice bowl. The pricing is absolutely reasonable, compared to other AHL and NHL locations I have visited. Again, the design of the place and bars is really nice. We also liked the food consumed at Dollar Loan Center.

The Henderson Silver Knights also drive a nice merchandise store, which is accessible at match days. The range of items on sale is not as wide as for NHL teams, but significantly beat the options offered at other AHL locations I have been. Even though I could stand purchasing some memorables, I really liked visiting their store.

 

Henderson Silver Knights at Dollar Loan Center – My View

The Dollar Loan Center is truly the best AHL location I have visited so far. The arena is very modern, the atmosphere is overall very nice. Especially if you don’t want to pay the high Downtown Las Vegas entertainment prices, the Henderson Silver Knights are a great option for hanging out and watching some great US-American sports.
