4.3/5

Flyctory.com Pros

  • Good car
  • Efficient services at car rental center
  • Nice car rental center with services

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Rather long commute from terminal to the car rental center

Most of the times I visit Las Vegas I take a rental car. It gives you the opportunity to easily reach some of the outskirt destinations and also does not urge you to opt for a central hotel on the Strip. These typically feel too expansive, too crowded and too much of a rip-off to me. Thus, when I visited two Weird Al Yankovic shows at the Venetian, I opted for the Homewood Suites Las Vegas Airport – and a rental car by my preferred provider Hertz. Here is my rental car review.

Hertz Las Vegas Airport (LAS) – The Rental

I had a three day rental in June 2025. I reserved a Nissan Rogue at a pre-paid rate for three days, Thursday to Sunday. The rental was done from Germany and thus paid in Euro. The amount was 271.59 EUR. This has been an equivalent of some 315 USD. European bookings typically include CDW

Hertz Las Vegas Airport (LAS) – Location & Office

The vast majority of rental car companies at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) use the Car Rental Center. It is located South of the runways. This also means that you have to cross the tunnel under the runways, regardless whether you travel to/from Terminal 1 or Terminal 3. I had a British Airways ticket. The flight from London Heathrow (LHR) arrived at Terminal 3. On the return, I had a first American Airlines leg to New York (JFK), which made me depart at Terminal 1.

Hertz’ rental office is open 24 hours, any time of the day. The shuttle buses don’t have a fixed schedule, but operate very frequently. The buses to Terminal 1 are separate from the Terminal 3 ones. At the Car Rental Center, there are two bus stops, one per terminal. Please note that for a few local car providers, you might have to take an additional shuttle from the car rental facility.

Hertz Las Vegas Airport (LAS) – Receiving The Car

The directions in the terminal are given rather clearly. The departure stop for the rental car shuttle buses (all companies), however, is located at the very end of the terminal, which might be a bit of bothering. The buses are not overwhelmingly large, but equipped with luggage racks (see above). There are waiting lines making the whole boarding process very handy. You typically should not wait for too long until you make it onboard the bus. Nonetheless, after leaving arrivals, it may take you up to 30 minutes until you reach “your” rental desk.

The facility is very spacious and also features some services like a Starbucks. Hertz runs a very large office there. However, as a Hertz Gold customer, I could directly head to the parking upstairs and go to my car. This was very handy.

Hertz Las Vegas Airport (LAS) – Returning The Car

I had an easy drive, when I returned the car in the morning. You can see the car rental facility from the hotel I stayed in. However, even if you come from one of the motorways, the directions are very well given. The rental car garage features return lanes, split by the different providers. The return of the car was very efficient and easy as well.

The Car – Nissan Rogue

I just had some 150 miles around Las Vegas on this rental and rather limited luggage. Thus, the Nissan Rogue was more than sufficient for my trip. I actually liked it quite much, even though for the more or less city trip, the car was rather a bit too large. Regardless of that, it came with a rather low mileage (7,500 miles) and was in very good condition.

Hertz Las Vegas Airport (LAS) – My View

You just cannot deny that the transfer times to the car rental station are long – even though the facility itself is rather close to the airport grounds. Hertz provided a very good service, the shuttle bus drivers at Harry reid International Airport (LAS) are very friendly. I really liked that rental with Hertz.
