Flyctory.com Cons

  • Dangerously stored glasses in bathroom

For a business trip to Munich in July 2025, I was looking for a cheaper stay in the area North of Munich Main Station. Due to my Accor ALL Gold status and the competitive prices, my choice was the ibis Munich City. Here is the review of my stay.

ibis Munich City – Location

The hotel is located at Dachauer Straße, right North of Munich Main Station. The area is very diverse, with small restaurants, other hotels, bars, stores, gambling shops and a table dance bar. Walking distance to the station is less than five minutes. You also reach the Lufthansa Express Bus in a short walk. There are also some major stores in the area, including a dm drugstore. The station offers a wide range of shopping and basic dining opportunities as well.

Munich Main Station is also the main public transport hub, which allows you to easily access Munich and the region around. There are also international train connections from there, including trains to Austria, Switzerland, Czechia and Hungary. In addition, the hotel is in the middle of two tram stations, served by lines 20 and 21.

ibis Munich City – Room

I had a two night stay at the ibis Munich City, Tuesday to Thursday in July 2025. The total price for the stay, including breakfast, was 235.45 EUR. My room was located close to the elevator, facing the patio, which was likely very convenient due to potential noise from the roads around. The room had a nice size, coming with the typical ibis Hotel design. The power socket hanging from the wall next to the work desk lamp looks a bit of odd, but at least has been very functional. There is at least basic storage space in the room as well, which I overall really like.

The bathroom was compact, but overall worked out. I would have loved a bit more storage space for your toiletries. The limitation in size became especially obvious at a rather high board, which did not only feature two towels, but also the glasses. I felt that this is a bit of dangerous in case one of the glasses are falling down. The room was clean and well maintained.

ibis Munich City – Breakfast

Breakfast at the ibis Munich City is served from 6:30 (weekdays) in a separate room. The rather contoured space offers some privacy. The breakfast buffet even slightly exceeded my expectation. Quality and quantity of items was nice, compared to other ibis hotels and peers. I really liked the culinary start of the day at this place.

ibis Munich City – Service

The lobby of the ibis Munich City is really nice. Some people used it to work during daytime. There is a typical bar and basic snack service in that area. The hotel staff was very friendly, check-in and check-out went smoothly. The free hotel WiFi worked very well, too. In line with the typical branding, the ibis hotel does not drive a gym or similar facility.

ibis Munich City – My View

In my recent reviews, e.g. the one about the IntercityHotel Bremen, I talked a lot about branding. When I book into a certain hotel chain, I expect certain standards. Accor and ibis seem to be much better in that than some of their peers. The ibis Munich City simply gives you what you expect at reservation. Here and there, they even exceed the expectations. That leads to a very good expression.
