  • Nice location
  • Overall, a very solid stay

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Issues at breakfast

Even though I comparably rarely stay in them, I typically like Leonardo Hotels. For a company event (rafting on the Isar river, very fun 🙂 ), I have been booked to the Leonardo Hotel Munich City West. Due to my experience with the brand so far, I was really curious about these two nights.

This trip has been paid by the company I am working for. This did not have any impact to my judgement or rating of the hotel.

Leonardo Hotel Munich City West – Location

The hotel is located in the Munich borough of Sendling. It is located right at the Mittlerer Ring (“Middle Ring Road”) of Munich, so that traffic noise can be bothering. There are numerous bars and restaurants around. The river Isar with the parks around it is a some ten minutes walk away. From there, you can also stroll to the Munich Zoo.

The location leads to a very good traffic situation. Rather quickly, you are at the A95 motorway by car and reach Garmisch-Parttenkirchen and the Alps. Motorways to other Southern destinations are also not too far away. The hotel is driving a parking garage. The underground stop Brudermühlenstraße is almost right at the hotel. It is served by U3 and U6 (partially) and thus offers a fast ride to the city center of Munich. You need to transfer once to get to Munich Main Station, though.

Leonardo Hotel Munich City West – Room

I had two nights in the hotel in June 2025. As the company booked it, I have no idea about the rate. Leonardo Hotels are typically rather moderate, though. The room I got was a first floor room facing the main street. I did not have issues with the street noise, the hotel also provides earplugs (which I did not use). The room had a nice size and I liked the large window and the opportunity to store my suitcase. On the downside, there were no power outlets besides the bed and also the work desk solely featured one free one of them. The bed may look like a double bed on the pictures – I would rather call it a twin, though, as the two separate parts tended to move apart from each other.

The bathroom was nice, a bit on the compact side. You could open the shower door to both sides – otherwise, I would definitely have been lost. There were some amenities in dispensers. I am not the biggest fan of the design of the toilet paper holder, but that’s just a minor thing. The bathroom as well as the room was absolutely clean. As I had quite a lot of equipment with me, I declined having housekeeping between the two nights.

Leonardo Hotel Munich City West – Breakfast

I am mixed about the breakfast at the Leonardo Hotel Munich City West. First of all, I really loved the breakfast room and the setup of the breakfast buffet. The variety of warm and cold items was absolutely nice. However, the quality of some of the dishes provided was a bit too low. On Saturday morning, they had Bavarian White Sausage – one of my favorites – which did not meet my expectation. Overall, they did a good job regarding the class of the hotel, though.

Leonardo Hotel Munich City West – Service

The staff in the hotel was fine. Coming back from the US, where you typically have very friendly service, is quite a difference to Germany, though. The hotel has a lovely roof terrace with a nice view, especially during sunset. Another nice feature of the hotel is in its basement. The tiny gym is really limited, but they have a really nice sauna and steam bath in the same area. One service I did struggle with has been the WiFi indeed. There were several interruptions during my stay.

Leonardo Hotel Munich City West – My View

The Leonardo is a pretty solid place at a nice location. Here and there, some tweaks would even improve your stay. Not in the top rating range, but also no disappointment. I have a good time in Southwest Munich.
