A key issue about organizing my trip to Newport for the Infosys Tennis Hall of Fame Open 2024 were hotels. The area around the Rhode Island Coast is very popular – which means that the hotel prices are rather aggressive. The whole trip took me four different hotels. The first hotel review I share with you is of the Hampton Inn Seekonk, where I stayed two nights.

Hampton Inn Seekonk – Location

Seekonk is a city in Massachusetts. It is in fact rather close to Providence. The Hampton Inn is located in a commercial area right South of the I-195, which makes it very convenient if you use it as a basis to travel to other destinations. There is a nice number of services around, starting from various kinds of restaurants up to a Walmart. Another key attraction right next to the hotel is the karting track Seekonk Grand Prix.

You need to have a car if you go for this Hilton Group hotel, public transport is practically not available and it is not close enough to Providence or other major destinations to use Uber all the time. The hotel is offering sufficient complimentary parking for that reason.

Hampton Inn Seekonk – Room

I had two nights at the Hampton Inn Seekonk, from Sunday to Tuesday in July 2024. Based on a semi-flex rate, I booked their Large King Deluxe room, which was a total of 413.01 EUR, including tax. Breakfast is complimentary at Hampton Inn hotels. The room was indeed very large and comfortable, I absolutely loved it. The design of the room is closer to the newer Hampton design nowadays used in Europe, which I really like. Especially the large work desk and the vast availability of power outlets helped me a lot during my tennis coverage. Unfortunately, the walls were rather thin, so that I the family disputes in the room next door were a bit too present in my room as well. The room had a microwave and a fridge.

The bathroom came with a large US-style shower. Most amenities were provided in dispensers. However, there was separate soap. Like the whole room and hotel. housekeeping was very good and the room was absolutely clean.

Hampton Inn Seekonk – Breakfast

The breakfast area at the Hampton Inn Seekonk was rather nice. They also had the typical variety of items, including fresh fruit. Unfortunately, my pictures of the breakfast are a bit limited in number – the place was rather popular during my stay and I just did not manage to do more.

Hampton Inn Seekonk – Service

The hotel drives and indoor pool as well as a nice gym. Both looked very nice and well-maintained. The staff at the hotel was really friendly and helpful. There is a rather nicely stocked snack store right across the reception desk. A funny thing the hotel has is a self-service beer dispenser in the lobby (I did not really dig deeper into it to see how it is actually working…).

Hampton Inn Seekonk – My View

The Hampton Inn Seekonk was actually my favorite stay during the Newport trip. The staff is nice, the room was awesome. The sound insulation was a negative point, though. Unfortunately, you run into this kind of issue in several North American hotels.
