Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 26th June 2026)

No major trips this week, before I had overseas for a short trip next week. The temperatures in Germany are record-breaking highs this weekend, so that many events have been limited or cancelled. While I was quite sad that I had to cancel my athletics coverage this summer for major events, I am not too sad about not being in the sun all the time this weekend. There will be a very interesting hotel review next week very likely. A very interesting song from Germany is leading the Songs of the Week this time. I hope it is adding some focus on Nashville and country music here. Hope you enjoy my song selection of new music releases.

Maffay + Oerding – Ein Leben lang ist nicht lang

It’s one of the most exciting news of the German music scene this week. Two of the finest German artists, Peter Maffay and Johannes Oerding, recorded an album together. Nashville – recorded in Nashville – will be released on 2nd October 2026. The teasing song feels very promising. Let’s see how much country music influence will finally be given by Music City. I love this one and put it on the top of my list.

Alva Lys – Wildflowers

Alt-pop with a cinematic – this is how Swedish artist Alva Lys is describing her music. She is nowadays based in Copenhagen. I really love the catching, melodic track of her debut appearance on Flyctory.com.

Blue Moon Rising – Seven Tears

Scottish folk? Catching and easy pop? World music? There is a bit of everything in Seven Tears – and this is why I liked this song so much. In fact, it is a cover of the Goombay Dance Band, who lead the British charts with their original in 1981. When the German duo Blue Moon Rising is doing this song, it even reminds me a bit of the Danish Olsen Brothers, who won the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest. Nice!

Solarkreis – Turniertänzer

Austrian pop from Graz: the septet Solarkreis go for a dance and present Turniertänzer (“Tournament Dancer”). A cool, cheeky track, which becomes special with the saxophone and trumpet elements. You can definitely dance to this one – even if you are not a Turniertänzer.

Max – Steady

Max is a Manhattan-origin US American pop artist. He is also working as an actor, dancer and model. His new song Steady is definitely making you move to its rhythm as well. Have fun!

Sombr – My Body Isn’t Ready

Sombr is back to my website. In my 6th February 2026 Songs of the Week, he appeared with their single Homewecker the last time. Like the predecessor in this list, he is an artist born in New York City. A really nice and personal pop track.

Marquess – Superelastico

The German band Marquess from Hanover is typically known for their Latin pop songs. Especially in the later 2000’s and early 2010s, they had quite some success with their characterful music. However, lead singer Sascha Pierro is a German-Italian citizen, so that this excursion to Italo-pop is not that surprisingly. The song works out perfectly and stays in your mind.

Hudson Stone – Overthinker

You have never heard from Hudson Stone? No blame on you – Overthinker is the debut single by the US American artist from Los Angeles. His father is from Australia, his mother has Korean roots. More fascinating, though, that this mature, modern pop track is in fact recorded by a 14 year old artist. Hudson is also working as an actor. At Disney’s Camp Rock 3, he played Desi.

Delta Goodrem – Hologram

Delta Goodrem’s Eclipse has been one of my absolute favorite songs of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest. The Australian performed well, but finally ended up fourth. No need to be sad – the European preview dates to her November album release Pure are sold out since months – and songs like Hologram illustrate that she is an excellent pop artist. Thumbs up for Down Under!

LUNAX & Felix Samuel – Still Waiting

Joined forces on German soil: Hamburg DJ LUNAX and British Felix Samuel, who is nowadays living in Mannheim, boost their young career by joining forces. The result is the dance track Still Waiting. A really nice composition with a catching beat.

Katy Perry – Watch It Burn

In this week’s edition of my new song series, Katy Perry is likely the most prominent artist I feature. A very energetic and straight pop song, which again underlines her musical quality.

Soul Monkey Breed – Miss You Soon

Soul Monkey Breed are a German classic rock band from Bremen. Their new single release Miss You Soon is a lovely 1980’s style ballad. If you like rock with a touch of nostalgy, this one is a must listen.

Massendefekt – Voll daneben, halb OK!

11th September 2026 – this is the day, when Massendefekt (“Mass defect”) release their self-titled album. Voll daneben, halb OK! (“Complete miss, half-way okay”) will be the sixth song of the record. The band from the Greater Düsseldorf region is doing a nice mixture of rock and punk rock. This year, they celebrate their 25th band anniversary.

Thomas Godoj – Letzte Liebe

Thomas Godoj is not tired releasing high quality German-Polish rock and hard rock songs. The 2008 Deutschland sucht den Superstar (German version of American Idol) winner is about to release a new album, Kreuzwege, in September. This song about the “Last Love” is already the sixth song release from the upcoming record. Still, I look forward to this one.
