Waterbaby is a indie-pop and R&B artist. On 6th March 2026, she released her debut album. I had a listen to Memory Be a Blade and share my thoughts.

Waterbaby – About The Artists

Waterbaby is a Swedish artist. Unfortunately, I just have very limited information about her, apart from that she is born in Stockholm. Waterbaby released her debut single Stockholmsvy, in collaboration with Hannes. The following year, she released the EP Foam – her only one so far. Please note that there seems to be a British duo with the same band name.

Waterbaby – Memory Be a Blade – Track by Track

The eight song album lasts 26 minutes.

1. Sink

The release starts with Sink. The song has a slow, very dreaming character. The are R&B vibes, but the key element of the song is indeed its intense atmosphere. The song has a mysterious touch, especially towards the end of the 2:25 minute listen.

2. Memory Be a Blade

The second track ist the title song of the album. Even though the melodic line and the flow reminds of the opener, the song is much more melodic and rhythmic .style, much more leaning towards mainstream pop music. The song is one of four songs already published at album release date.

3. Clay (feat. ttoh)

Pain in the morning comfortable bed
I’m like clay how u mold me
I, I twist and I bend, so
When did you hurt me, falling again
There’s a heart to be broken
Afar from a friend

Memory Be a Blade is featuring three already released tracks at its beginning. The second one is Blade. Again, Waterbaby manages defining a fine, lovely melody. The additional male voice adds a lot to a fascinating listening experience.

4. Beck n Call (feat. moh)

Beck n Call welcomes with listener with a rhythmic keyboard backing theme, which stays on over the entire duration of the song. Later, ttoh is adding some slow hip hop alike vocals. The song is energetic and has a strong, unique character.

5. Minnie

String instruments take over the melodic lead for Minnie. The song is a desperate love song. Waterbaby states I don’t wanna disappoint the ones I made believe, adding later So u go live ur life and I’ll go back to sleep. A very personal song, which is one of my favorites of this release.

6. Minnie Too

Are these two minutes some sort of add-on to the Minnie story? Minnie Too starts with vocals only. Later, brass instruments lead to a heavy depressing mood. However, the song has a brief surprising twist at the end. I’m just tryna tryna get away. A very interesting one.

7. Amiss

In the second half of the album, Amiss is the only song which has already been shared by the Swedish artist. The song comes with a rather rich arrangement of instruments in the background. The strong indie influence leads to a very catching and interesting listen. I like it.

8. Srs Ice

The closing track is rhythmic, has a nice groove. I like the vocals on top of the melodies. A good finale.

Here is the album on Spotify:

Waterbaby – Memory Be a Blade – My View

I like Memory Be a Blade. Waterbaby defines her very own, characteristic sound. I also love her very personal storytelling, which is here and there pushed into the background a bit too much. Some songs could have a stronger punch as well.

Favorite Song: Minnie / Minnie Too
