Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 19th July 2024)

I am loaded with tennis work this week. The time in Newport, Rhode Island, featuring Indian tennis and the induction of Leander Paes to the International Tennis Hall of Fame has been a bit more intense than I thought. Of course, I will share my Songs of the Week with you again. It may become a bit of tricky next week, though, as I am heading to the Olympic Games (as a spectator) and expect a rather tight schedule in Paris. Here are my favorite new releases of the week.

Paula – Gut So

Paula (full name: Paula Bresnik) is a young musician from Austria, who just graduated from acting school in June. This week, she is going away from the theater and moves to the recording studio and world of music streaming with her debut single Gut so. I really like that German pop song.

Simon sagt – Chilli Vanilli

In my 3rd November 2023 Songs of the Week, I shared the hilarious Christmas track Wir sind die Wichtel by Simon sagt. The artist from Hamburg in Germany rather focuses on songs for kids. This leads to a lovely easy. Like in his new song release.

Stanovsky x Rory J Williams – Lonely Island

At the end of August 2024, Stanovsky, who is nowadays living in Berlin, will share his album Grünlich. This week, the German artist, who is originally from Stuttgart, released another feature single. I really like this collaboration with Rory J Williams.

Havington – July

Havington is a band from Bremen in Germany. The trio released their new song with summer vibes this week. Let’s have a listen to July in July. After some festivals this some, they will tour Germany in October.

Julia Kautz – Leben wie Las Vegas

Ich will leben wie Las Vegas – “I want to live like Las Vegas“. The Austrian pop artist, who was born in Vienna, but now lives in Munich, shares this modern pop song with dancing vibes this week. I really like it.

OUDi – From A Distance

OUDi is an alternative pop music artist from Canada. You might rather know her als Chrystal Leigh and part of the Vancouver-based country music duo Sons of Daughters.

Toni Mogens – Another 90s Song

Tell me why you’re still in love with the Backstreet Boys – German artist Toni Mogens praises the 1990’s boy bands in his new song release. This one really made me smile. He will play a few shows in Southern Germany in August and September.

Weird Al Yankovic – Polkamania!

It’s polka time – and quite a while since there has been a new one of these. The medley polkas have always been an essential part of Weird Al Yankovic albums. There won’t be any long play by Al any more – but this week he shares a mash-up of popular track of recent years. Have a listen to songs by Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus or from the Encanto movie. I love it!

Blusher – Overglow

The all-female pop trio Blusher name themselves angry sparkly pop chaos. The Australian band from Greater Melbourne started releasing music in 2022. This year, they had a quite popular song with Accelerator already. I really like their new one.

The Stickmen Project x Izzy Bizu – Alright

The Stockmen Projet (also: The Stickmen) is a British house duo. I feel that their new collaboration with singer Izzy Bizu is a really nice dance track with some happy vibes.

Vanilla Ninja – Sting of a Scorpion

They are still alive. After I struggled with their album Encore in 2021, I really like the new release of the Estonian ladies pop-rock band. Cool to have this special sound on my playlist again.

Sleep Theory – Stuck In My Head

Sleep Theory are an US-American rock band from Memphis. This week, they are sharing Stuck In My Head – and this song really gets stuck in your head. Cool one!

The New Roses – When You Fall In Love

This is one is a rather straight rocker. The New Roses from Wiesbaden in Germany already released five albums. The last three ones made it to the Top 20 in their domestic market. Late in 2024, they will also tour Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Czechia. Before that, they will release their new album Attracted To Danger in early October.

Amy Rigby – Bricks

US singer-songwriter Amy Rigby is about to release her new album Hang In There With Me on 30th August 2024. This song is heating up her fans towards that long-play. Nice one by the artist from Upstate New York.

Bradley Simpson – Daisies

Bradley Simpson became famous as the lead singer of the band The Vamps. After ten years in this collective, the British artist is going solo. Daisies is a lovely modern pop listen with a nice touch.
