Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 17th January 2025)

I’m in Finland this week, featuring two floorball match. However, the Nordic country is not represented in my Songs of the Week this time. Nonetheless, I feel that there is a a nice mixture of a nice range of genres and artist origins. Hope you enjoy my selection of songs released this week.

Sotiria x Peter Heppner – Weiß wie Schnee

More and more, Sotiria becomes one of the most interesting current German artists to me. Her German pop-rock style is simply very energetic. This week, the Berlin-born artist joins forces with Hamburg-origin Peter Heppner, who had a massive hit with Die Flut. This duet is pure rock power – with a nice pop music touch.

Vivien Jäger – Hübsch und hässlich

Not as popular as Sotiria, but coming with an interesting mix of pop, rock and schlager as well, is the Viven Jäger and her new song. The title translates to “Beautiful and ugly”. The song is amazing and catching. A really cool song by the Southern German from the Lake Constance region, who is dealing with beauty craze in this song.

Gotthard – Thunder & Lightning

The Swiss hard rock kings are back with a new song. I really like their new single, Thunder & Lightning. From May 2025 onward, they are touring Europe.

Marshmello feat. Jonas Brothers – Slow Motion

Marshmello and the Jonas Brothers – didn’t we have the collaboration already? Indeed, the the US-American DJ and producer and his countrymen had a very successful song in 2021 already. Leave Before You Love Me comes with almost a billion Spotify streams. Let’s see if Slow Motion will have similar success.

Bradley Simpson – Carpet Burn

Bradley Simpson is about to release his debut album The Panic Years at the end of February 2025. With his songs so far, the British artist already got quite some good reputation. Carpet Burn is a lovely pop-rock track.

Cian Ducrot – Who’s Making You Feel It

The next song I feature this week is from Ireland. Cian Ducrot already had some great releases with songs like I’ll Be Waiting or All For YouWho’s Making You Feel It is a lovely piano ballad with some powerful elements.

Thorsteinn Einarsson – Somebody (Like You)

The Icelandic artist, who grew up in Austria, releases his last single before his fourth studio album. It will be released in March 2025. His new song feels very promising.

Malou Lovis – Want It Back

Malou Lovis won The Voice of Germany in 2023. The pop singer shares her new song, which is about equality and being able to live a self-determined life .A really nice one.

Matthias Patterer – Kleid aus Narben

In parallel to his album Farben/Narben, Matthias Patterer is releasing his new song Kleid aus Narben (“Dress made of scars”). The press kit states that this one is the most personal song by the Austrian artist from Tyrol. A wonderful, touching song

Pupo – Insieme

The Italian pop artist Pupo is already active since the later 1970’s. In that time, he also had his biggest hits, like Su di no, which was a platinum single in his home country. However, his more recent releases have been less successful. This one has a lot of potential to change it.

Anna-Sophie – Find Me Somebody

My favorite pop track of the week is Find Me Somebody by the Austrian artist Anna-Sophie. I feel it combines cool vibes with a strong atmosphere. Thumbs up to her for this song.

Philippa Kinsky – Haven

Philippa Kinsky is an upcoming artist from Mannheim in Germany. In her new release Haven, she sings about friendship and full support for each other. A fine and emotional track.

Jan Schröder – Alles Gute Für Dich

Jan Schröder from Hamburg is already active on stage as a musician since 1979. He has been part of several bands and played some major gigs in the Northern German area. His solo release Alles Gute für Dich (“All the best for you”) is a rather straight and classic singer-songwriter track.

Braths – Jour de pluie

I always enjoy presenting songs from genres, which are rather rarely represented in here – but still touch me. Braths (or: Thomas Horeczko) is a pianist, violinist and producer from Berlin. I love his piano instrumental released this week.
