Saturday noon rides with German national rail Deutsche Bahn typically give me a good chance for some lounge reviews. While their DB Lounges are packed during other times, this is one of the rather off-peak experience. When I had a quick trip to Frankfurt in August 2025, I had the opportunity to have a look at their facility in Frankfurt Main Station. In fact, Frankfurt is the only city in Germany which has German Rail Lounges at two different locations. Don’t confuse this review with their lounge at Frankfurt Airport Station, which I already shared with you.

 

 

DB Lounge Frankfurt Main Station – Location & Access

The DB Lounge at Frankfurt Main Station can be accessed from the main entrance hall, next to the Reisezentrum / ticketing center. In fact, it is one floor above the platforms, but you enter from platform level and then take the stairs or the elevator. This review features the “ordinary” DB Lounge. The DB Lounge at Frankfurt Main Station, only eligible for bahn.bonus Platinum travelers (their highest status) or people with flexible First Class tickets.

You can access this area of the lounge (i.e. the non-premium lounge) as a platinum, gold or silver status member of Deutsche Bahn’s frequent traveler program, bahn.bonus. Silver members just have a limited amount of visits per year. All status members need a long-distance ticket for that day. Alternatively, you can access the lounge with the BahnCard 100 network ticket. From Monday to Friday, the lounge is opening from 6:00 to 22:00. On Saturdays and Sundays, the lounge opens one hour later.

 

DB Lounge Frankfurt Main Station – Atmosphere

The DB Lounge is really large. Of course, especially on weekdays, there is a lot of commuting and transferring there. On a Saturday, the atmosphere felt very relaxed. Parts of the seats can look out through windows to the platforms, which is definitely a perk for train lovers. The lounge is refurbished and follows the typical modern design of Deutsche Bahn. This also means, there are cozy sofas, relaxing single seats as well as bistro-style seats. Except for the tables in the middle of the room, the distribution of power outlets (Central European and USB-A socket) is very good.

 

DB Lounge Frankfurt Main Station – Food & Drink

As usual, there is no food provided in standard DB Lounges. As my visit was during summer, there was ice cream, though. The large size of the lounge is also reflected in the refreshment area. There are three coffee machines (the third one is separate) and two soft drink dispensers on one wall of the lounge. If you feel like having a bite, it is absolutely tolerated to bring something from the various restaurants and stores located in the main station.

 

DB Lounge Frankfurt Main Station – Services

Even compared to logging into the network of an ICE train, I do typically have a bit of struggle logging into the DB Lounge free WiFi network. However, once you are in, you get an absolutely fine speed. The staff was very attentive and friendly during my visit.

 

DB Lounge Frankfurt Main Station – My View

At least in off-peak times, the DB Lounge at Frankfurt Main Station is a really nice place. It features a lot of space, it is rather centrally located and the staff is nice. Having the large drink dispenser section is definitely a plus as well.
