Flyctory.com Pros

  • Lovely location
  • Good services
  • Well organized breakfast in the lovely hotel lobby

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Basic room

As part of a two day workshop in Hamburg in November 2025, I had a night at the Motel One Hamburg-Fleetinsel. As our group was too large for their facilities, the workshop was held at a place nearby in very short walking distance. I don’t have too many Motel One reviews on Flyctory.com so far. I am not the biggest fan of their brand, they you cannot deny that they are typically very reliable in the services and comfort they provide. Thus, I was looking forward to this stay.

The stay has been paid by the employer I had at that time in November 2025. This did not influence my review.

Motel One Hamburg-Fleetinsel – Location & Access

The hotel is located on the Fleetinsel peninsula between two canals, the Alsterfleet and the Herrengrabenfleet. The city center with the shopping district is in walking distance. To the South, you are quickly in the Speicherstadt. From that area, you can take harbor cruises (like the Ehlers Harbor Cruise I reviewed) or visit Germany’s best rated attraction, Miniatur Wunderland. The Elbe Philharmonic Hall (Elbphilharmonie) and the famous party and red light district Reeperbahn are in close proximity as well.

On top of its nice location within city center, the hotel is also nicely connected by public transport. In the South, there is the Baumwall Underground Station (in fact, the trains run on elevated tracks there, not below surface), which is served by the U3 line. Rödingsmarkt in the Northeast is an alternative option for the same connection. In the North, you can connect to the S-Bahn commuter rail lines S1, S2, S3, S7, including a direct connection to Hamburg Airport (HAM). All options take you to Hamburg Central Station as well. On top, there are several bus connections around. The hotel drives a minor parking garage (21 EUR / 24 hrs).

Motel One Hamburg-Fleetinsel – The Room

I had one night at the Motel One Hamburg-Fleetinsel, from Thursday to Friday in November 2025 in a standard room. As the room was company-paid, I don’t know about details, but non-event stays should be around 100 to 150 Euro per night. Breakfast was included in my stay. I had a room on the sixth floor. The room felt rather dark and compact – there was sufficient space for luggage in the rear of the room. The rear corner of the room also features a  reasonably sized work desk with a chair. I did not like that the only free power outlet in that part of the room was in fact under the table. Another quite weird feature is the upright safe, which was right next to the left side of the bed.

The bathroom was overall compact as well. Soap and shower gel is provided in dispenser. Especially compared to the size of the full bathroom, the walk-in shower is comparably large. The room felt modern and well maintained. It was also absolutely clean.

Motel One Hamburg-Fleetinsel – Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the large and really beautiful hotel lobby. The lobby is also a great place to hang out in the evening, the bar is having a very good menu and service as well. Due to the large size of the hotel and the lounge, there are two equivalent breakfast buffets at each side. Especially as they are compact in space, this is a very smart measure. Despite the limited size, breakfast is having a decent collection of items, coming with a good quality. Thus, the breakfast performance of the Mtoel One Hamburg-Fleetinsel is absolutely within expectations for a hotel of that standard.

Motel One Hamburg-Fleetinsel – Services

The staff was very friendly. The check-in process worked very smoothly and also the check-out was fast and efficient (also because you have to pay your stay at arrival). The hotel drives a large lobby with a very well sorted bar and very nice staff (the same area which is used for breakfast). WiFi connection in the hotel room was very good. The hotel does not drive a gym or similar facility.

Motel One Hamburg-Fleetinsel – My View

The Motel One is a really nice option for exploring the city. The rooms are basic and have some unusual features like the safe right next to the bed. However, the location strikes and the large lounge / breakfast area is really nice. If you don’t need that much comfort on a city or business trip, it is definitely worth considering.
