A dream came true to me on 16th November 2025. On my birthday, my ice hockey team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, played in Europe – namely in Stockholm. After I had already attended the first match against the Nashville Predators on Friday before, I felt that on that Sunday, I just have to go to the most outstanding experience I could get. My wife and I went for the most expansive tickets openly available, the so-called Superior Premium Seat package. After I had already shared a review of Avicii Arena based on the IIHF World Championships 2025, here is a very different way of looking at Stockholm’s famous venue on a very special day (at least, for me…).

Avicii Arena – Location & Transport
The Avicii Arena is a 14,119 spectator arena in Johanneshov, a Southern borough of Stockholm. It is well connected by the Stockholm Metro (Tunnelbana, line 19, Globen station), the tram line, as well as by road. I gave you more details in the general review of the arena. If you come from Globen station, you typically approach the venue from the Northwest. Entrance gate 7 marked in the map below is used for premium visitors. It is located in the Southeast of the spherical venue and thus close to the media entrance I for example known from the 2025 Swedish Floorball Finals coverage. You typically pass the arena via the adjacent Quality Hotel Globe to reach the entrance doors.
NHL Global Series Stockholm 2025 – Superior Platinum Seat Experience
My wife and I had two Superior Premium Package seats for the second match of the NHL Global Series in Stockholm. The tickets for Sunday, 16th November 2025, were 8,295 SEK each, roughly 755 Euro. Apart from a premium seat, it included fine dining and the usage of one of the lounges, the Clubhouse of Avicii Arena. Access was named to open at 12:30 (doors for ordinary visitors: 13:00, nominal face-off: 15:00), with the possibility to use the lounge up to one hour after the end of the game.
Check-In
We were a bit later than we planned to be at the arena, around 12:40 to 12:45. The more, we were surprised that the premium entrance was still closed. The doors opened a few minutes later. After passing the security checks we were told that there have been communication issues and that they opened the premium entrance 15 minutes earlier in order to prevent us waiting in the cold. This was absolutely ridiculous, as the 12:30 time was confirmed by e-mail on Saturday, the day before this match and the day after the first match of the NHL Global Series between Pittsburgh and Nashville. We had to wait in a room on entrance level, which also featured a very limited merchandise booth and limited seating.
The wardrobe was not manned, even though it was obviously built for that purpose. There was also another wardrobe at the Clubhouse (see below) later, but we weren’t made aware of that. Finally, briefly after 13:00, we were guided to the Clubhouse. The staff did not feel well-organized and also did not check for people with mobility issues. Regarding the price and the comfort the ticket should offer you, this was an absolute nightmare in my point of view.

Avicii Arena Clubhouse Lounge
The Clubhouse is a limited staircase walk up from the premium entrance. It is a posh hospitality lounge with a nice style and a large bar. Several hospitality ticket and package holders used the lounge. It does not feature daylight. Overall, the lounge felt very dark, which also lead to my limited quality pictures of it.

For the Superior Platinum package holder, there was a separate area with more privacy. The area was really nice and rather quiet. Unfortunately, in contrast to other parts of the Clubhouse, there were no screens in that area. That was especially bothering during the intermissions as you could not see when the puck is dropped again. Nonetheless, we overall enjoyed that area.

The clubhouse also comes with an own bathroom. The capacity was a bit of limited on the women’s side. While the style as such felt fine, but not overwhelmingly posh, the maintenance and cleaning during the event was limited. There were, for example, no paper towels in the men’s toilet on one side of the sinks after the match.

The Seat
A really nice feature of the Clubhouse is that it has direct access to the premium seats in section A23, where we sat during the match. Our seats were more or less right above the center line of the ice and gave a great view. Furthermore, the seats are a significant upgrade in padding, seat width and seat pitch, so that you have a really great and relaxed experience during the match. I was a bit of surprised that even in that best seat category, the seats don’t have cupholders. This was especially bothering, as all drinks in Avicii Arena are open (for sodas with screw cap, they remove the cap even on these seats!) and you cannot store them properly (apart from holding them) during the match or event.

As said, the view was fantastic and you could even nicely explore the action on the two team’s benches.

Food
Fine dining was part of the package – and Avicii Arena did very good in this category. There were some snacks, olives, chips with sour cream dip and salted and roasted almonds on the table when we arrived. The menu included the following items (the ones not given in the menu marked in italics):
- A sharing board with cured ham, goat cheese and beetroot as well as smoked tuna
- Scallop carpaccio with apple, lime and dill oil
- Gyoza with duck breast, orange, shredded radish and picked ginger
- An iced Yuzu soup
- Arctic char with cauliflower puree, browned butter and grilled asparagus
- Venison with salsify, lingonberries and red wine sauce
Due to the delays at check-in and the communication issues, we just had the arctic char when the teams went on the ice for warm-up. Missing that was a bit of a shame and you saw that people got nervous about it. Thus, the timing was not well planned, maybe the breaks between the dishes need to be shortened, if that is possible organizationally. Most of the people in our section decided to move the dessert to the first intermission for that reason, so that you at least get a bit of the pre-game show after the warm-up. The menu gave baked chocolate with sea buckthorn and vanilla ice cream, which was definitely not the dessert served.

Apart from food, there was a selection of wine, sparkling wine, beers and non-alcoholic beverages as well as some long drinks and cocktails included in the price. I had a couple of Tom Collins. My wife had a Yuzu cocktail and some wine. The welcome drink was a glass of champagne. Some premium drinks required an additional charge, but there was plenty of stuff to explore without additional payment.

During the match / Post-match
If you went out from the lounge to your seat, you could grab a plastic bottle of beer or soda for free for the match. There were no snacks like chips, nuts or similar. During the second intermission, there was a self-service hot dog station. Unfortunately, this one was not given in the menu and shared in the “common” space of the Clubhouse, so that I initially did not even recognize that. After the match, there weren’t any snacks at all, which I felt being very disappointing. Some nuts or chocolates would have been a nice treat after the match. Some basic snacks or something like an ice cream or similar would have upgraded the experience significantly.

Service
The service was an up and down. I already wrote about the check-in experience, which was absolutely bad in my point of view, also in the way the staff communicated it to the people. The waiters in the lounge before the match and also in the intermissions were amazing and worked really efficient. The main waiter was very professional and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the style was a bit of Nordic. I would personally love to have a “warmer” style to be treated, but that’s rather a mixture of branding and cult, I guess.
After the match, the service felt very limited, so that you quickly felt not too welcome. We managed to get one more drink before leaving. There was also no proper goodbye, the lady at the Clubhouse reception even felt a bit of rude to me. Regarding that you paid such a high price and had a special event, I would have loved to have something special, either a small souvenir, for example the mascots visiting the lounge area or a player coming to say hello to the people (or some other kind of good memory). Thus, the after-match experience was a bit of disappointing.
NHL Global Series Stockholm 2025 – Superior Platinum Seat Experience – My View
Having my Pittsburgh Penguins on my birthday on European ice (and, finally, even ending with a victory…) was absolutely memorable to me. Definitely, this afternoon at Avici Arena was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With the Superior Platinum tickets, I wanted to have a special experience on a special day. The NHL, Live Nation and the arena unfortunately just delivered that partially. The food was amazing and the service during the mal made it even better. The Clubhouse is overall a really nice hospitality lounge.
However, the price was too high for the experience provided. Check-in issues, the after-match experience – even non-top league soccer clubs simply do hospitality better in that regard. There were indeed some communication issues, not solely the ones during entering the arena. I also cannot state I felt appreciated by the event as a premium customer. Sports events in Sweden seem to have these kind of issues. World Floorball Championships and other events I visited there came with equivalent issues.
Apart from the first picture, the other pictures are from the first match on Friday 14th November 2025.
