Alex Wellkers - Reach The Stars
Flyctory.com Pros
- Great vocal work
- Nice dramatic plots
Flyctory.com Cons
- Here and there, songs are too weak or too predictable
When I scanned a promotion platform for albums released on 22nd August 2025, I ran into Reach The Stars. It is the sophomore album of the one-man band project Alex Wellkers, which is named after its founder. I really liked the versatile songs at a first glance. Let’s see how I like it after a deeper listen – here is my review.
Alex Wellkers – About The Artist
Alex Wellkers is a Swiss artist, who is based near Zurich. His music is moving between pop to rock songs, which typically have German or English lyrics. In his early years, he also did rap music, but never published them. This changed with the five track EP Pre in 2014. He released numerous EPs, before he shared his debut album Fly Away in 2024.
Alex Wellkers – Reach The Stars – Track by Track
The thirteen song album lasts 50 minutes.

1. We Knew It All
We knew it all is opening Alex Wellkers’ album. The first tunes suggest a gentle, dreaming pop ballad. However, the Swiss uses significant distortion on the vocal side. The instrumental parts develop towards a more rocking sound as well. Still a very atmospheric, theatric listening experience
2. Bring Me The Keys
Like the opener, Bring Me The Keys has been shared before the album release. The song starts by repeating the sing, which leads to a resigning, melancholic touch. Again, Wellkers develops a nice pop-rock track with a nice melody out of it. The fine violin part adds a nice style as well.
3. See Me There
In See Me There, the slight accent in Wellkers in singing English becomes rather obvious. However, I really like that . It feels to suit to this song, definitely, especially the more rocking parts profit from the “dirty” and rougher sound of his vocals. Again, Wellkers creates a slow with a nice flow, which feels to develop and grow continuously.
4. Desert Island
The musical trip to Desert Island is in fact the first song on Reach The Stars which has not been released. The song focuses on being a truthful and honest narrator. The cello and the piano feel to be very present in here. However, later the song is also driven by electric guitars. Regarding the duration of this song (4:20 minutes), Desert Island feels bring surprisingly complex, especially on the lyrical side.
5. There Is Cars
A fine string melody is leading into There is Cars. The plot of the song is similar to the ones before. However, the detailed narration, which even feels a bit of duet-alike in here, is especially well done in this fifth song. There is cars, there is planes and there is buses, they all take you through the United States. An interesting listen, even though the quote feels a bit too trivial.
6. Alles Nicht So Schlimm
So far, all songs on this album were sung in English. In the sixth song, he is switching his mother tongue. The song is an excellent example how well he is working with his voice and accentuating his lyrics. Sogar Du erzählst mir Alles Nicht so schlimm (“Even you are telling me – everything is not as bad”). Again, there is a catch in this album, even though it is hard to describe
7. Tu Es Ici
English, German – and now, there is even a song in French. Tu es ici reminds of the song before, but overall has a more gentle and harmonic approach. Due to a lack of knowing the language, I can simply not connect to this song too well. Alex Wellkers’ music simply too much lives from the stories.
8. She Will Say
After these gentle and harmonic tunes, Wellkers turns to a rather punk-alike sound in this one. Thereby, the less than three minute song definitely leaves a mark in the context of this album.
9. The Key
The rougher, more rocking style continues in The Key. The song is nicely driven to a higher speed by the drums. It is also very guitar-centrical so that alternative rock fans will definitely have fun with it.
10. Mystic Saint
The guitars take the lead in the intro of Mystic Saint as well. Again, Wellkers works very variably with his voice. This makes the song very lively, even thoigh the baseline of the tenth track is a quite dark one.
11. What Are You Searching For
The one is opened with a a cool and groovy bass line. Reach The Stars has found its rock home base – and Wellners is making use of that intensively.
12. Now The Pages Been Turned
After so many rocking songs, Wellkers takes a different turn in the penultimate track. Now the pages been turned is a typical acoustic guitar singer-songwriter recording. It rather reminds of folk music. The ballad style is really lovely.
13. Au Revoir
Wellkers went for an epic way to say Au revior at the end of the album. The chucker-out takes more than 6:30 minutes. This kind of song is where he can play with all his narrative and dramatic talent. The song is simply interesting listening to.
Alex Wellkers – Reach The Stars – Spotify
I will add the Spotify widget once the album has been released.
Alex Wellkers – Reach The Stars – My View
I would not lift Reach The Stars to the absolute heaven of music. But Alex Wellkers does have a magic touch. He is really good in working with music and language. Some of the songs really strike. Not a mainstream listen, but an album, which makes me smile.
