I ran into the album Fool’s Parade by the band Color Green on a promotion platform. It is the sophomore long-play by the US-American band  The album has been released on 12th July 2024.

Color Green – About The Artists

Color Green are a rock band from California. They are nowadays based in Los Angeles. The quartet consists of Corey Madden, Noah Kohll (both guitars), Kyle Perlmutter (bass) and Corey Rose (drums). All four appear as vocalists of the band as well. In 2020, they released a self-titled EP, followed by their also self-titled debut album in 2022.

Color Green – Fool’s Parade – Track by Track

The nine song album lasts 42 minutes.

1. Coronado

Now I’m leaving Coronado (which is a city close to San Diego, by the way) is the first message of the album. The song has a nice classic touch with present guitars. Nice, easy listen by the

2. Four Leaf Clover

Four Leaf Clover has been one of the feature singles of Fool’s Parade. The song mixes rock with surfer vibes and thus spreads California vibes on the melodic side. The vocals lead to a slightly melancholic touch.

3. Fool’s Parade

The next song on the album is its title track. The song is more calm and quiet and thus even more focuses on the story. The song rather leans towards folk rock. Bassist Kyle Perlmutter is very present in here.

The foolish beggar comes dancing
Upon the belt of Orions remains
Who can protect the mountain
If distraction continues this way?

4. When The Clouds Roll In

When The Clouds Roll In presents a nice and friendly melody, which is driven by the piano (played by Jonny Kosmo). Jon Catfish Delorme on the pedal steel adds a nice Americana touch. The song is virtuous and presents quite some themes – even though it is comparably short (3:05 minutes). I really like it.

5. God In A $

The fifth track of Fool’s Paradise has been the last one shared before album release. The song is a rather straight rocker, coming with rock’n’roll vibes as well as some alternative touch. The uptempo rhythm is nicely driving the song, turning it into a very catching rock experience.

6. 5:08

On the edge alive
We’ll be walking alone
Shattered grounds survive
Calling back to fairview

5:08 is not the duration of the song, which is 6:40 minutes long. The track is slowing down the pace of the album again. Therefor, it is one of the most atmospheric and intense listens of it. Towards the end of this sixth track, the song gains more and more energy – which is definitely not doing harm.

7. Kick The Bucket

With 7:28 minutes, Kick The Bucket is the longest track on Fool’s Paradise. The song takes time to focus on the instruments. It leaves a touch of progressive rock and rather classic rock elements. Nice listen.

8. Ball And Key

After this massive listen, Ball And Key is a rather fine melody again. The guitars are gently strumming, the song introduces a banjo (played by Bill Evans). A very special atmosphere, which adds quite a lot to the album.

9. Hazel Eyes

The last song Hazel Eyes feels quite in line with the predecessor and presents a really nice fade-out of the album. I really like that one.

Dreaming new beginnings
Just like heaven in disguise
Something golden in the distance caught my eye
Turning on again
Lost my mind in hazel eyes
Hazel eyes

Color Green – Fool’s Parade – My View

Here and there, the potential of Color Green pops up at Fool’s Parade. The album is a nice listen, but does not make it to the top ranks. There are no weak spots, but some of the passages feel to mousy to me.

Favorite Song: Hazel Eyes
