Tim Bergling – the much Sweden and his home town Stockholm in special admire the Swedish artist is so beautifully illustrated by the fact that they named their most famous arena after him. Thus, it is not too surprising that the capital city is also featuring an exhibition about the artist. Here is my review of the Avicii Experience.

Avicii Experience – Location & Admission

The exhibition is located on the Northern edge of Sergels Torg (Sergel’s Square). Thus, it is very centrally located. The walk from Stockholm’s Central Station takes just a few minutes and the famous shopping street Drottninggatan is just a block away. Obviously, the public transport situation is excellent, the bus and tram stop T-Centralen (for the Central Station) is almost in sight. It also features connections of the Stockholm Metro. You can access the area by car easily as well, but parking is quite expansive and – on top of it – the museum is located within the Stockholm city toll zone. While the entrance is on street level, the exhibition is in fact located in the basement. There is an elevator for accessibility.

Avicii Experience is opening daily. Times are 10:00 to 18:00. Adult admission is 209 SEK (roughly 19.50 EUR) if you book online. These tickets are bound to a time slot and can raise to up to 269 SEK, depending on the season. During my visit, there was also a combined ticket with ABBA Museum. At the time of writing, I could not find this offer any more.

Avicii Experience – The Visit

The museum tries to illustrate the musician Avicii, but also the private life of Tim Bergling. Furthermore, it tries to explain the impact he had to music, despite is rather short artist life with a total of three studio album releases, the last one even being a posthumous one. Especially when it comes to getting in touch with his music, Avicii Experience is rather interactive. You can browse through his music, but also explore the process of making electronic music. For example, you can do your own mix of an Avicii song.

I personally felt that the focus on his private life was even more fascinating. Thereby, the museum starts in Bergling’s childhood days – you can even have a look into his children’s room. I also enjoyed the section about his spiritual life. Regardless of the topic, the exhibition does come with quite a nice range and number of original items. This is rather remarkable because the exhibition space is not overwhelmingly large. Finally, you also run into his charity life, especially the Tim Bergling Foundation. The last major room reminds of the Avicii memorial concert.

Avicii Experience – Services

The museum has a rather small souvenir store. If you compare it to major Stockholm attraction, the section in the reception area is rather small.

Avicii Experience – My View

I really love that Stockholm praises his son, a legend of electronic pop and dance music. However, Avicii Experience is rather small and narrow. You do get back more than you might expect at first sight. The museum is modern and interactive and gives a great overview of the life of the artist. Unfortunately, also if you compare it with peers like ABBA Museum, it is on the expansive side.
