Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 16th May 2025)

This week, I am having my final shows of the German Rock of Ages tour. After the intense musical and ice hockey trip last weekend, this one should be rather relaxed. Despite that this weekend is more a rock music one for me, my Songs of the Week this time are rather pop-ish. Hope you enjoy my selection of new song releases.

Buckcherry – Set It Free

The new Buckcherry album Roar Like Thunder just takes a few weeks until publication. It will be the eleventh studio album by the US hard rockers from Los Angeles. This week, they released the feature single Set It Free – and it is a really good listen. Thus, they are on the top of my this week’s new releases. After the title track Roar Like Thunder, which made it to the top in my 21st March 2025 edition, it is the second time this year the band release a Song of the Week.

Fury In the Slaughterhouse – Sorrowland

Sorrowland is the first song release by the rock band from Hanover, since they published the album Hope in July 2023. This summer, they will be on a major open air tour. Their new song feels a very promising one for that occasion.

Alessi Rose – Same Mouth

Even though Alessi Rose’s debut single is dated as of 2023, she already released two EPs. Her most popular song on Spotify, Oh My, has almost seven million streams. She is currently supporting Dua Lipa on her tour. Sounds like a British success story to me. Same Mouth has also been used to tease her third EP, Voyeur, which will be released on 25th July 2025.

Persia Holder – Echo

Another British pop artist I feature this week is Persia Holder. She is based in London, but has Scottish and Iranian roots. She will soon release her debut EP I Didn’t Think You’d Hear This.

Philippa Kinsky – Somebody Who Loves

In 2022, Philippa Kinsky already had a quite successful song with Heartache in July (3.5m streams on Spotify). This week, the GermanAustrian artist released her new song Somebody Who Loves. A beautiful modern pop track.

Marleen Lohse – Not Made For Beaches

After her March song release Losing Sight even lead my 7th March 2025 Songs of the Week, Marleen Lohse is back in my series of posting with a new song. This week, she released a new track, Not Made For Business. I really love the work of the German actress and musician.

Marissa Burwell – Say It Again

I love to feature young and emerging artists with a short spotlight in these postings. None of the songs of the Canadian singer-songwriter Marissa Burwell has been streamed more than 10,000 times. That’s really a shame in my point of view – I really love her new one Say It Again. Hope that these words generate a bunch a additional streams for her.

Claudia Cane & Andreas Kümmert – Fire In My Soul

It’s Eurovision Song Contest time this week as well. Andreas Kümmert, the 2013 winner of The Voice of Germany, won the German ESC qualification two years later, but then did not feel to be in the right condition to in fact compete in Vienna. The more I love listening to the German musician, who is doing a mixture of blues, rock and soul. This week, he collaborates with Munich artist Claudia Cane. A really nice and remarkable collaboration.

Kamrad – Be Mine

Tim Kamrad from Wuppertal is looking back to three EP releases, his 2018 album Down & Up  and two golden and two platinum records each in the German speaking countries. This week, he released the song Be Mine, which is a lovely listen.

Nation of Language – Inept Apollo

Nation of Language is an indie-pop trio from Brooklyn. They are active since 2016 and have released three albums so far. Inept Apollo is a nice and modern way to interpret 1980’s style new wave sound.
