Waterfalls on the Faroe Islands (Pictured Story)

The Faroe Islands – a place I more and more love as a place to relax and be grounded by the feeling of nature. Nowadays, it is also a place where I meet some lovely people again. Apart from the green grasslands on the Nordic Hills, I am more and more fascinated by the incredible number of waterfalls. During my recent stay in October 2025, I felt that they are worth having a dedicated posting about. Here is my Pictured Story of Faroese waterfalls.

Waterfalls on the Faroe Islands

The pictures below have majorly been taken on the islands of Streymoy and Vagar, i.e. the wo islands which host the capital Torshavn and Faroe Islands Airport (FAE). The hilly geography of the Nordic archipelago as well as the rather humid climate drive the vast number of waterfalls throughout the territory.

I already took you to the island of Vestmanna in previous postings. For example, I introduced you to the Saga Museum, or the bird watching boat trips from there. On my October trip, I saw a men’s handball and a women’s handball match there. Vestmanna is really beautiful in regards of its waterfalls. Some major ones run right through the city. As Vestmanna is comparably large and spreads up the hill, you can also drive to the top to some of these natural beauties.

Of course, the big water drops, starting at the top of one of the Faroese hills, are very impressing (especially if they are close to towns or villages). However, also the smaller waterfalls do have a nice touch. Hope you liked this posting and feel some of the feelings I do have when I am in that beautiful territory.
