  • Nice room and services
  • Nicely presented breakfast
  • In-room kitchen

Working for a client in Hanover gave me some business nights in the Northern German city. The second week I had there was at Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel (“Pelican Dustrict Guest Residence”). The hotel is some sort of boarding house or aparthotel and thus felt very interesting to me. Here is the review of my stay.

I had this stay as part of a business trip and have thus been reimbursed by my employer. This does not impact my review.

Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel – Location

The Pelikanviertel is an area Northeast of the very city center of Hanover. It feels like it used to be commercial, as the guesthouse is also located in a former industrial building. In fact the front part of the building is a Sheraton hotel. Close to the main street, there are a few shops, including a smaller grocery store. Two major supermarkets are in walking distance as well. Overall the area is a nice mixture of commercial, residential and services like restaurants around.

The easiest way getting to Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel is likely by public transport. The tram stop Pelikanstraße (lines 3, 7, 13) is less than a five minutes walk away. It is just a few stops to main station. You might also find street parking if you arrive by car. Alternatively, there is a parking lot, which looked like being available for hotel guests as well.

Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel – Room

I had a two night stay at the Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel in December 2025, Tuesday to Thursday. The flexible rate for a double room, single occupancy, including breakfast and city tax, was 262.22 EUR. I had a room on the second floor and was absolutely impressed by it. The room was really spacious. The design and the furniture don’t feel that modern – the more they are very functional. I could, for example, work from the bench on the wall opposite to the bed. I also loved that the hotel has a nice distribution of power outlets. A key feature, though, is that you have your own kitchen. The fridge was switched off (but you can just switch it on when you need it at arrival. There are two hobs, a dishwasher and a microwave oven. By “default”, there is no tableware and kitchen equipment in the room. You can rent it for a deposit and a small fee (something like 8 EUR per stay), though – which feels really cool. You do have two glasses in the room, though.

The bathroom with shower was functional. I had a bit of limited space to place my toiletries in there, but apart from that, it was absolutely fine. In line with the room, it comes with a rather functional style. However, the room was well cleaned and looked very well maintained. Housekeeping at the Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel is only every third day if you are on a longer stay.

Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel – Breakfast

The breakfast area in the hotel is right next to the reception. There are not too many warm items. I loved that the hotel provides pancake dough, so that you can prepare your own pancake in a small frying pan. The more, the place has a lovely selection of items on the cold sides. There is a nice bread selection as well as cold cuts and more healthy choices. I would have liked a slightly better selection of juices. Overall, the beautiful presentation, the good selection and the very friendly staff gave me two very enjoyable mornings.

Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel – Service

The welcome at the hotel was very friendly. The receptionist explained the hotel in detail to me, including that you need your room key to get into the building in the night. There is a small gym at the Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel as well – I just did not have the time to visit it. WiFi in the room worked out really well, I loved it. The hotel also does have some other facilities, including a kitchen on the top floor which can be used for cooking / team events. There is also a laundry in the hotel.

Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel – My View

I chose the hotel rather for its location and finally really loved staying there. The Gästeresidenz Pelikanviertel comes with very interesting and attractive aparthotel concept. The rooms are functional, but they spread some warmth. As in many hotels, I would have loved to have more / stronger pillows, but as the location and the services are great, I would definitely recommend it. It is a very nice value for money, indeed.
