Driving a bulldozer, digging with an excavator – I am sure many of you had similar dreams in childhood days. There are some places where you can try that out for a rather high fee. Or you go to the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains and visit Dig’n Zone. The theme park is allowing you to have an experience at least in a limited way. When I found a Groupon for it, this place just had to be on my list during my Six US States and Nashville trip. Here is my review.

Dig’n Zone Sevierville – Location & Admission

The amusement park is located in Sevierville, which is right North of Pigeon Forge. In fact, the park is located some 3.5 miles North of Dollywood, at the same main road. There is some public transport in the area, but in fact, you should go there by car. Dig’n Zone offers free parking with a close walking distance to the area.

The park opens all year around. However, opening times do differ depending on the day and season. Especially in fall and winter, there are days at which the park is closed entirely. Times range between 11:00 and 17:00 in the colder months and 10:00 to 22:00 in summer peak time. You can pre-purchase a day pass for the park online, the ticket is flexible and can be used any day. The nominal price during 2025 was 69 USD nominal, which leads to 80.93 USD after tax and service fees. Theoretically, there is a fast pass option Turbo Pass. However, during my visit, the lines were short. The admission includes all attractions. Only the major bulldozer Car Crush is an additional 20 USD nominal. My ticket was significantly cheaper and included the fast pass and a souvenir mug with a drink (was was extremely welcome during the heat).

Dig’n Zone Sevierville – Atmosphere

There is no atmosphere at Dig’n Zone in a way you would expect it from Disney or explore at European theme parks. Finally, the park is a slightly hilly area, which is a mixture of grass and paved areas. The key services like the cafe, shop, arcade or sanitary facilities are located in a central building. The only covered area is a picnic area in front of that building. This also meant that during my visit in the summer heat, I was quite exposed to the sun. Some rides / vehicles offer some shadow, though.

Dig’n Zone Sevierville – Attractions

The whole park is somehow about faming and construction vehicles. I started with L’il Loco, a train of wagons or barrels pulled by a real tractor to get an overview of the park. The tractor is obviously pulled by an employee of the park. However, you can drive most of the vehicle at Dig’n Zone by yourself. Even children can typically to it if accompanied by an adult. The downside is obviously that the power and speed of these vehicles is significantly reduced. For some rides, the functions are also reduced. For example there is no horn or you cannot lift or lower the excavation bucket.

While many of the attractions are riding experiences with different vehicles, especially especially the CAT 301.5 and CAT 302 also offer other options. At Dig’n Pit, you can in fact dig with the small excavators, while other attractions like Later Gator test your dexterity. At that attraction, for example, you have to catch and return plastic gators in the style of a fishing game. Especially these attractions lead to a surprising lot of fun during my visit. Smaller visitors can also ride pedal cars. The most unique attraction of the park is indeed The Decimator. As Dig’n Zone’s replacement for a rollercoaster, a CAT 320 spins and turns you on this carousel ride.

Dig’n Zone Sevierville – Services and Food

There are some plaground attractions throughout the park. I appreciated speding some time in the arcade, due to the fact that the area is air-conditioned. The staff in the park was extremely friendly. I especially loved the people in the cafe, which also offers typical theme park food like burgers. The cafe offers some indoor seating, most of the tables are outdoor, though. You leave the park through the souvenir store, which has a nice range of items in line with the theme of the park.

Dig’n Zone Sevierville – My View

Despite I would have loved to have some more speed here and there, I really loved exploring all the vehicles and agility challenges of Dig’n Zone. The park is a lot of fun. The lovely staff makes you visit more enjoyable. Especially your minor ones will be loving it. However, I feel that the price is a bit too high. Luckily, there are a couple of deals and discount codes around (like the one i used).
