Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 4th July 2025)

Independence Day weekend in the United States is slowing down the music market significantly. Thus, it has not been that surprising to me that this week’s Songs of the Week is a comparably short one. Hope you nonetheless enjoy this list of new songs which I felt are worth a listen.

Phil Schaller – Langeweile im Sommer

The former German The Voice Kids contestant is on the top of my Songs of the Week for the second time. In the 13th December 2024 edition, I loved his Christmas song Auch Chris Rea fährt nach Haus. This week, he is seasonal again – and presents a summer pop song. The title translates to “Boredom in summer” – but this one is not boring at all.

Bunch of Ace – I’m Not The One

The young sisters Alandra and Alessja are having a busy schedule nowadays. In parallel to going to school, they are working on their first album, releasing songs step by step. This week, Bunch of Ace released I’m Not The One. I simply love what the young Germans are doing.

Nadine Traore – No People Pleaser

No People Pleaser is the second time I feature Nadine Traore. However, the first time, I reviewed the 2023 album Heart & Mind of her folk-pop band The Rehats.  The song by the artist living in Freiburg reminds me of the Frozen movie here and there… But some Disney feelings are not the worst thing, aren’t they?

The Cumberland River Project ft. Daniella Goldfine – It’s Still Going On

The versatility of Frank and his The Cumberland River Project is simply amazing. The songwriter covers such a wide range of songs and genres. This week, he joined forces with Israeli singer-songwriter Daniella Goldfine and released the indie-folk track It’s Still Going On.

Marla Moya – Shedding Skin

I’m not sure why Shedding Skin is flagged as psychedelic rock on the platform I am using. I would rather describe Marla Moya’s song release as a folk track with indie and pop influences. A really beautiful listen – I especially enjoy her fine voice.

Daniel Thieme – Five Elements (Main Theme)

Daniel Thieme is an audiovisual artist from Hamburg. This week, he is releasing the first songs of his performance project Five Elements. In parallel, it has been released as thisoriginal version and a remix. I loved the intense atmosphere of this track. Thus, it deserves this slot.

Foo Fighters – Today’s Song

As I had two more songs on my list, which (intentionally?) had a wrong release date on the promotion platform. there is quite a difference in sound between Daniel Thieme and Today’s Song. Nonetheless, the new Foo Fighters track is simply worth a listen. I definitely like this one by the US-American rockers.

Ratchid – Aldrin í hesu verð

Last minute, I added this rock song from the Faroe Islands. Aldrin í hesu verð (“Never at this price”) is just the second single release by the quartet around Ragnar Ostero. He also wrote the song, originally as a poem, about a friend who died in a car crash. Very nice listen.
