Kelsey Waldon (28th January 2026, Cologne)

2026 started with a couple of sports reports, but it took few weeks until my first concert report. Kelsey Waldon had her last German show of he Every Ghost European Tour 2026. Let’s a look into this concert, which was located in the Yuca Club in my home town Cologne. It took place on 28th January 2026. Kelsey was supported by Domino Lewis in this Sound of Nashville show.

Yard Club – About The Venue

The Yard Club is the smaller indoor venue of Die Kantine in Cologne. The club is located in an industrial area in the North of the city. In 2025, I featured the shows of Jesse Daniel and Caylee Hammack there. It has a capacity of some 250 people. The easiest way to get there from the center of the city is by ram. Lines 12 and 15 connect to Wilhelm-Sollmann-Str., from where it is just a five minute walk. Parking at Die Kantine is a bit of tricky, especially when both venues are used in parallel. They do have limited parking right next to the building, though, if you arrive early. As the audience was not that large, there were no issues during this show, though.

Kelsey Waldon – About The Artist

Kelsey Waldon is an US-American artist. The female country music artist is originally from Ballard County in Kentucky. In early teenage years, she started to play the guitar and started getting into music. She started to self-release EPs in 2007 with her Dirty Feet, Dirty Hands. Her first albums, the 2010 Anchor in the Way and the 2014 The Goldmine were self-releases as well. Waldon’s discography features a total of seven studio albums so far. The tour is named after her 2025 one, Every Ghost.

I loved that the support artist of this show is a European act. Domino Lewis is a French country and folk artist from Paris. In 2023, she released her debut single Now And Then I Wonder. In 2025, she published a live EP, Live at Kervax.

Kelsey Waldon – The Show

The audience on that evening was a bit of sparse. There were maybe 50 to 80 spectators in the room. Domino Lewis stepped on stage a bit earlier than announced, about 18:55. Just playing an acoustic set with her guitar, she impressed with her clear voice and lovely storytelling. Early songs in her set were I Used To or the Gypsy Song. There were some yet unreleased parts of her setlist, like Baby, which she wrote about her ex-boyfriend. A lovely listen was No one will grow up to be you, in which she praises her father and reflects about her family live. Excluding the technical issues, Domino played some 23 minutes and thereby definitely won some music hearts in Cologne.

Full Band Set by Waldon

The intermission was not too long and Kelsey Waldon stepped on stage around 19:45. Her set started like her latest album, with Ghost of Myself. The 18 song set almost took 90 minutes. Remarkably, Waldon had a full band set, her first time like that in Europe. Despite the limited audience, she and her band were very energetic from the very beginning. Despite her rather traditional sound of her songs, there also were rather rocking elements. After Peace Alone and Kentucky 1988, she introduced her band members.

Songs like High In Heels (from her 2014 Goldmine album) in the middle of the set also gave a view on the earlier steps of her career. Before she played the Ricky Skaggs cover Uncle Pen, she praised her favorite bluegrass artists. Thereafter, a fiddle solo by Blakely Burger lead into Sweeet Little Girl of her 2022 No Regular Dog album. Waldon reflected about her recent European experience, stating Everybody has been so warm and welcoming, wishing the fans that even those who have a bad time will feel better after the show. Thereafter, there were mainly songs of her latest album, like Comanche or Tiger Lilies, reminding of her grandmother. After All By Myself, she closed the show with Ramblin’ Woman, which is a part of Every Ghost, but a Hazel Dickens cover.

Kelsey Waldon – My View

I absolutely loved this show in Cologne. The two artists, Domino Lewis and Kelsey Waldon, had a very different character. The fine, solo artist from France on the one hand and the energetic US-American artist with her full band on the other. Both, however, told beautiful stories and made you enjoy what was going on on stage. On top of that, I really liked the relaxed atmosphere at the Yard Club that evening. A really beautiful country music experience.
