Flyctory.com Pros

  • Very friendly and efficient services
  • Comparably good connections

Flyctory.com Cons

  • No public transport connection

In late May 2025, I added another smaller US airport to my flight log. Typically, I visit these places due to the Essential Air Service program in the United States, as they offer comparably cheap flights with interesting airlines – at least when you are an aviation nerd. The reason why flew to and from Evansville (EVV), though, was pure greed. I aimed to fly to Nashville (BNA) directly, but the Premium Economy ticket to music city was simply double the price of the one to the airport which is just some 100 miles North of the home of country music. It was, by the way, the second time I took a decision like that. My flights to and from Chattanooga Airport (CHA) were also just because of saving money, compared to major airports. So I had my first flights to and from Indiana – hope you enjoy that I share this experience with you.

Evansville Airport (EVV) – Location & Transport

Evansville Airport (EVV) is located North of the city of Evansville. The location is quite nice. It is close to US-41 and comes with two nearby Interstates, I-64 and I-69. Unsurprisingly, parking is really affordable. The uncovered Economy lot is 8 USD / day, first four hours free. There is also a solar-covered option (22 USD/day) slightly closer to the terminal. Apart from taxis and rideshares, there is no public transport connection to Evansville Airport (EVV).

Evansville Airport (EVV) – Connections

Based on the size of the city and the airport, Evansville (EVV) comes with quite an impressing selection of flight connections. American Airlines and Delta operate services to their key hubs in the area from there. For example, American Airlines flies to Chicago (ORD, my flights), Charlotte (CLT) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). There are also some low-cost connections, e.g. by Breeze or Allegiant, typically to holiday destinations. Evansville Airport (EVV) is a regional airport and is thus not equipped to serve international flights, e.g. to Canada or Mexico. United is also not present at this Indiana airport.

Arriving at Evansville Airport (EVV)

My flight from Chicago arrived rather late during the day, so that the airside services were already closed. Even smaller airplanes like the Embraers I was travelling on can be served by a jetbridge. While the A Gates are predominantly used by Delta, the B Gates are served by American Airlines. You directly arrive at the gate, so that a direct turnaround or connections should be easily possible. Like in most US airports, the luggage belts are landside on one wing of the terminal building. Right opposite, there are multiple offices by well-known rental car companies. This was very handy for me – I almost got the car keys for my Alamo rental from the airport before my suitcases arrived at the luggage belt.

Departing from Evansville Airport (EVV)

Departing from Evansville Airport (EVV) was very handy as well. The check-in was very friendly and went very smoothly. I arrived at the airport almost four hours before my flight and TSA was just on a lunch break, but there is quite some seating available, so that I could work from there. This area also featured a tables, which looked like as if you could order food from the (airside) restaurant to that area.

Security was very handy and efficient. Of course, there is also a TSApre service. The landside area is really neat and efficient. The restaurant also serves as a small souvenir store. There is plenty of opportunity to hang out before a flight. I especially loved their Business Lounge, which is is nothing but an open space which is really nicely designed for working. There is also a small place for children.

Evansville Airport (EVV) – Services

The staff at the airport was very friendly, I loved the short walking distances and the relaxed atmosphere. There is no “proper” lounge at Evansville Airport (EVV), apart from the nice working area. You also find vending machines landside and airsde. The airport provides free WiFi, which worked out very well during my time there.

Evansville Airport (EVV) – My View

I really loved my flights from Evansville (EVV). It is so relaxed and efficient. Yeah, you do typically need an additional connection to get there, compared to major airports, but especially grabbing my rental car so quickly after arrival and being off to the hotel was a perk I absolutely appreciated. Compared to major US airport experiences like in nearby Nashville (BNA), this felt like a huge advantage to me. This airport definitely won a place in my aviation heart.
